Exciting and New

This week on the Exciting & New pocast Jason Andy and Dana are celebrating Christmas with first time guest Paul as we discuss the 1983 holiday comedy classic Trading Places. Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd team up with Jamie Lee Curtis (all at the top of their game) as they try to take down the evil Duke brothers and save Christmas. Will the presence of Jim Belushi ruin the movie for everyone? We hope not. But we'll fight through his appearance as we break down the famous stock market scene and figure out if anyone on this podcast is smart enough to figure out what the hell is going on. Spoiler alert: We don't. But that doesn't take away from the fun we all had. Enjoy the pod and Merry Christmas.

Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.

Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Zach back to discuss what we are watching. And that's it. No movie podcast this week. We were supposed to do Krull, but our new producer lost the file. He's been fired and the new guy will do a better job next week. Sorry Zach. I know you want all your Krull thoughts out there.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast Jason, Andy and Dana welcome first timer Mike to the show as we discuss the 1983 soft core teen sex romp Private School. In this blatant rip off of a bunch of better movies we have already reviewed, Phoebe Cates basically keeps her clothes on and Matthew Modine dresses in drag for most of the movie. Luckily they also cast Betsy Russell, who seems to be up for anything. Our favorite Martian and Happy Gilmore's grandma join in on the hi-jinx. Enjoy the pod.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Dave back against his wishes as we discuss, for the 2nd time this year, Bond, James Bond with the 1983 spy thriller Never Say Never Again. Sean Connery is dragged out of retirement for this off-brand Bond movie where he looks like the old Bond (which if actually the much younger Bond) as he gets the girl, cathces the bad guy and probably cashes a really big check. For legal reasons this movie can't use all the usual Bond goodies, so it does feel a little off, but Kim Basinger (Bassinger?) and Bernie Casey join the nosense and have a good time. If you are a Bond fan, you'll enjoy this one, and then go back and listen to our Octopussy podcast we did earlier in the year.

This week on the Exciting and New podcast Jason, Andy & Dana welcome Connor back as we discuss the 1983 rape revenge Dirty Harry sequel Sudden Impact. That's right, Dirty Harry is back for the 4th time and we did no research by watching any of the movies that came before this one. We just assume these are all basically the same movie. In this version, real life Cint side piece Sondra Locke is getting revenge for a rape committed on her sister and her, and Clint Eastwood never met a criminal he didn't want to shoot first and ask questions later. To no one's surprise Clint is a big fan of her work. Go ahead, make our day and listen to the podcast

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Zach back as we discuss the 1983 workplace comedy DC Cab. This has a pretty interesting cast, with My Bodyguard, Mr T and a pre bike crash Gary Busey (although you would never know it's "pre") along with a young Bill Mahr and a hottish Marsha Warfield. Like I said, a pretty interesting cast. The movie is a steaming pile, and we didn't expect much, but I pity the fool who doesn't find Mr T's street justice charming. Enjoy the pod.
