Exciting and New

Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mac back to discuss what they were up to this week.  Platoon is coming this Wednesday.

Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.

Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason,  Andy and Dana welcome newcomer Herbie to the show to discuss the 1986 adventure comedy Big Trouble in Little China.  Once again we dive into the John Carpenter/Kurt Russell pool for some mid 80s fun.  This movie mixes all the adventure of Raiders and all the wire fu of a good martial arts movie to meld into something else entirely.  The hunt is on to find a woman with green eyes, which, as it turns out, encompasses half the females in the cast (although colored contacts were needed for both) and Kurt Russell is at his all time beefiness with his iconic tank top.  Come along for this wild ride and enjoy the podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Shamus back on the show to discuss the 1986 action flick Top Gun.  Tom Cruise leads this All-Star cast and their need for speed as they shoot down MIGs and spike volleyballs, all the while trying their best to show the world they're straight.  Once again, we have a woman cast just so we aren't confused by the sexuality of the cast, but no one is really fooled.  Ice Man, Goose, Maverick and Merlin all want to get into each other's cockpit.  DANGER ZONE!!  Enjoy the podcast!

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mike back on the show to discuss the 1986 fantasy flick The Highlander.  In this time-spanning epic, a French dude plays a Scottish dude.  A Scottish dude plays an Egyptian dude disguised as a Spanish dude, and Mr Krabs plays the bad guy.  In a movie that purports that there can only be One, there does seem to be a lot of these guys kicking around.  There are some women in this movie, but they are just there so there is no mistaking the sexuality of the protagonist, because if they weren't there, mistakes would be made.  Enjoy the podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy, and Dana welcome Connor back on the show to discuss the 1986 drama The Color of Money.  It's got the director (Scorsese).  It's got the cast (Newman, Cruise, Mastrantoniosmithjonesjohnson).  It's got the pedigree (sequel to the 1961 classic The Hustler).  It's even got the location (Atlantic City, New Jersey).  There is just something missing from this movie.  It's not bad.  It's just not that good either.  Maybe it is the Eric Clapton of it all.  Enjoy the podcast!

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Logan back on the show to discuss the 1986 coming of age classic, Stand By Me.   Quite by luck, we jump right back into the  Rob Reiner filmography while he is still in all of hearts, and jump into Castle Rock (Oregon?) with this all time great coming of age movie as 4 chain smoking pre-teens go off to find a dead body.  Like most Stephen King penned stories, it's not about the ending as much is it is about the journey, and boy, do these kids have a journey.  Leeches and Trains and Handguns, oh my.  We dive deep on this one.  Enjoy the podcast!
