Exciting and New

Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Logan back to discuss what they were up to this week.  Stand By Me is coming this Wednesday.

Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.

Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Zach back on the show as we kick off 1986 with the B&W indie flick, Down By Law.  In this one, three escaped convicts escape prison into the Louisiana bayou (eventually) and find friendship.  Or something like that.  It takes a little while to get there and this is not one of those movies most of us even knew about, but Tom Waits is the draw and we had a great time discussing this one.  If there are any 1986 movies you love and want to discuss, drop us a message to come on the show!  Enoy the podcast.

This very special episode of the Exciting & New podcast features our youngest guest, Cameron, as we discuss Christmas and winter sports and also stands as our 100th episode of 2025.  Happy New Years to all, and here's to hoping 2026 is just a little bit better.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana discuss the 2015 sci-fi classic The Martian.  That's right, just like Mark Watney, the E&N crew gets lost and needs rescuing as we veer off the 1985 path and stumbling into the 21st century.  Once again, millions of dollars and half of Hollywood assemble to rescue Matt Damon for like the 50th time.  Surprisingly this movie was not universally loved by all of us, so you need to listen to find out who doesn't have a heart (or soul).  Enjoy the podcast!

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana close out 1985 with the Rob Reiner-directed rom-com The Sure Thing.  Call it karma, call it bad timing, call it what you want but we finish our DEEP dive into 1985 movies discussing a Rob Reiner film.   You know him, you love him.  Meathead to some, Marty DeBergi to others, we discuss his sophmore directing effort starring Joan Cusack's brother and Princess Vespa as they travel all the way across the country to discover they had each other all along.  I know... I was shocked too.  But it all comes back to Rob Reiner and how much we will miss him.  Michele couldn't be bothered to come on the podcast.  RIP Rob.  Enjoy the podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Andy and Dana welcome Connor back to the show to discuss the 1977 sci-fi masterpiece Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  Jason couldn't make this one due to Covid (remember Covid?) but wanted us to carry on without him.  In this Speilberg classic, the dude from Jaws sees UFOs and totally goes off the deep in in pursuit of them.  Mrs Mr Mom is his not very understand wife and Ralphie's mom is there to pick up the pieces.  We all know the music, and you probably already know if you like this one or not, but we dive deep into all the fun facts that made this movie a blockbuster in 1977 and allowed a directors cut in 1980 which cut out the famous scene of Roy collecting material to build his own Devil's Tower.   Bad cut Steven!  Enjoy the pod.
