It’s the first show of the new year and when all the drink has been drunk, the shortbread devoured, and the new year’s resolutions broken, we come back to some tremendous new music from across the world.

We’ve got some exclusives including something new from Nameless Creations, and a radio premiere of the new Muzyka Końca Lata single; we’ve got some music from Israel, from Scotland, from England, and from France and we end with a favourite of my old Glasgow club night, Fire:works.

This week’s show was pre-recorded in a 6-year old’s bedroom in Airdrie in Scotland. Yes, I’m home for the holidays. If you listened live to the show on Radio Kampus, I was sitting in my parents’ house listening along with you. I hope, despite the absolute train wreck of a year it has been, you enjoyed a listen back over some of the notable music of the year.

Tonight’s show features a rather descriptive track by Stanley Odd - from the very town of Airdrie where I’m now sitting. We’ve got some music from those we’ve lost - Bowie, Prince, Viola Beach, and Leonard Cohen, and we’ve got some music from my favourite records of the year. Christmas is just around the corner. We had the too many fireworks christmas party the other night and it was a lot of fun and finished a lovely year for us. Now after that, it’s time to make the trip back to Scotland for a week of family and rest. I’m excited to see my family and it turns out, I’m going to get into Scotland early enough to go see Airdrieonians play. Nice.

Tonight’s show is, as you would expect, christmas-themed. We’ve got music from a couple of classic christmas albums produced by Low and Phil Spector respectively. We’ve got music from Shelter Scotland’s latest compilation and tracks from other alternative christmas compilations I’ve discovered recently.

Against a backdrop of some pretty awful happenings in the world this week, I’ve spent some time choosing the playlist for Wednesday night’s show and it’s never felt quite so therapeutic to me. Something normal in a strange time of uncertainty and horror.

Tonight’s show starts with some music to inflate our spirits. We have some picks from a couple of excellent compilations from Hidden Shoal and Hibernate respectively. We have new Jesus and Mary Chain and we have the excellent Evvolves.

Next week, we’ll have some indie-christmas-cheer. I promise.

I’ve just come back from a short trip to Scotland and I’m not sure how I managed it, but in the air, I found myself some stomach bug as for the last day or so I’ve not been enjoying myself (and we’ll leave it at that, eh?). Awful stuff. Still, I had a wonderful time in Scotland. Family time, and a Teenage Fanclub concert. Just what I needed.

Almost by osmosis, the playlist for tonight’s show is heavy with Scottish music, featuring a Chemikal underground highlight, and an old favourite reformed. There’s also some less known indiepop and some interesting baroque pop from Glasgow. On top of that, we have several tracks from the recent Hawk Moon records compilation, and a happy birthday to Tom Waits.

It’s Saint Andrew’s day today so as I sit in the Radio Kampus studio 1, just following the close of tonight’s show, I toast a sip of Irn Bru to the my home country on the evening of our patron saint, and delay – for even longer – going back into that cold, (probably) snowy evening.

The playlist for this week’s show begins with a Delgados Peel Session track; a Robert Burns poem taking a sharp jibe at the parliament of Scotland prior to the 1707 act of the union that created the United Kingdom. A fitting track to kick us off on St. Andrew’s day. We have music from Zimbabwe, from Latvia, and from England, and we finish with some post-rock from Gdańsk.

A packed day, and a packed show this evening. Before heading down to the Radio Kampus studio, I had the pleasure of listening to Mateusz Franczak’s concert at Czułość. As ever, a beautiful performance and it set me up nicely for the show in the evening.

The playlist for this week features tracks from two albums that celebrate significant birthdays this year. There’s something from Iceland Airwaves, some indie-pop from France, and some dream-pop from Lebanon, among some new Polish releases.

This week’s show comes hot on the heels of a very busy week indeed and it was a relief to find myself in the warm, cosy confines of the studio. It wasn’t so much fun after leaving at 01:15, when the rain hung in the air. Still, it was an enjoyable show.

The music this week is a mix of new releases, some things I’ve been meaning to play out for a while, and a couple of curios that I was really happy to let people hear; for instance, the Albert Whelan track is an absolute gem and a must for any football fan. Turns out, I didn’t realise Lilly Hates Roses were also playing at the Co Jest Grane fair next week, so didn’t mention the Warsaw date. It’s on 26th November. Turns out I called the guys varsovian when, in fact, they’re from Torun and Poznań. I should have a corrections and clarifications section.

This week’s show comes live again after last week’s pre-record from the opulent surroundings of my living room. Iceland Airwaves was absolutely magic. Many bands, many surprises, many good times.

The music for this week comes largely from the Airwaves festival, though I felt it was only right to mark the absurd, self-harm of the USA (Trump? Seriously?) with Radiohead, the newest too many fireworks record, and some shows the label is promoting. And we end with a gorgeous cover of a Scottish classic.
