Hey Idiots!
My guest this week is Sapphire Sandalo! She's a wonderfully talented animator, host, actress, (everything creative pretty much! She rocks it all!) and she hosts a great podcast called "Stories with Sapphire!"
Sapphire's parents are from the Philippines and there's a cultural gap in understanding anxiety and other mental health issues that people struggle with between them and most American born people our age. We discussed the misunderstanding and how she's worked to help them be part of the conversation (or at least attempted and learned when to just accept there's going to be a difference in understanding) and how she's overcome invalidating her own experiences just because they're so different from her parents experience.
It was a great chat and she's an absolute delight! Enjoy!
This episode is a part of my BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month Series, helping to raise awareness on the need for mental illness care and awareness in minority communities. It was originally all going to be released in the same week but because all the interviews were so great and so important, they definitely needed a full week of their own to be promoted and consumed/
Enjoy and share so we can spread the word together!
