Tom Brown is the owner of Lex Records, established in 2001 and Lex Films established in 2011. Tom started his career at Warp Records where Lex was initially a Warp sub-label. Tom took it fully independent in 2005. Lex is best known for releasing music by Danger Mouse, MF DOOM, Neon Neon and BADBADNOTGOOD & Ghostface Killah.
In 2011 Lex started production on a series of short films written by Alan Moore and directed by Mitch Jenkins, the films were screened at film festivals worldwide and are now licensed to AMC's Shudder. Lex Films have produced Alan Moore and Mitch Jenkins first feature film THE and is developing an original animated series STRATA by comic book creator Tommy Lee Edwards and I Speak Machine (here’s a concept art reel https://youtu.be/t8lbZqXI3V0).
And joining Tom is Will Skeaping who studied History or Art and Italian at the University of Manchester and studied History of Art at the University of Bologna is the co-editor of best-selling Extinction Rebellion handbook 'This Is Not A Drill', which is published by Penguin Books. Will is considered a full-time activist.
When he’s not haunting meetings and social occasions as the ghost of climate & ecological future, Will is a Creative Strategist specializing in integrated, scalable, creative brand development; building platforms and campaigns that connect with audiences through culture and technology. That all sounds impressive, but where is the music in all of this? Well, he started his professional career with many years in the music industry, holding positions of radio promotions at Warp Records and then, label manager at Lex Records. Plus, he apparently has amazing taste in music and his parents are cool oddball musicians.

Brian Burrows is a Composer, Producer and Music Publisher who grew up in Liverpool playing on the live music scene, then moved to London aged 18. He spent his formative years as a songwriter/producer working with the likes of Liam Frost, Spek, Longview, Fil Eisler and as a remixer/engineer for many artists including Robbie Williams, Ian Brown and Roger Waters. Brian has been composing music for TV and Film for many years including the scores for the BAFTA nominated Channel 4 film, The Hunt For Tony Blair. His music has been used by many world class TV, Film and ad producers including BBC, Disney, Netflix, Channel 4, ESPN, National Geographic, Sky Sports, CNN, ITV, Amazon, Nokia, Toyota, BMW, Stihl and Becks.

At 23, Sophie led her first major UK-wide campaign from inception to fulfilment, managing Music Gateway’s lead team, in partnership with Gibson Brands and Argos & Metropolis. Today, as COO and Head of Music, Sophie manages targets and KPIs across each department. She is passionate about levelling the playing field and empowering independents who need help creating, managing and monetizing their music.

Rachael Scarsbrook works as the Music Promotions Manager at Music Gateway. Rachael is charged with devising and delivering campaigns to help artists gain exposure across radio, DSPs, TV, Press & Online in order to build their brands and network of fans. She started out in music journalism at age 16 and went on to study journalism at university. Rachael hosted and produced student radio and was the Music Editor for the student paper in print and online. She has gone on to be published in The 405, The Guardian, GoldFlakePaint, SOUNDS Magazine, Highclouds & Renowned For Sound. Rach also writes festival reviews for Festival Republic and can be found working the merch desk of MUNA shows throughout the UK. She joined Music Gateway early last year after she sold the CMO a coffee in the cafe where she was working. She is, perhaps, too in love with the city of Los Angeles--a love which blossomed after flying there on a whim to see Haim play for the 36th time.

Ellis is an Advertising Creative Manager who is passionate around the world of music. He DJs across numerous Venues in his spare time. With his job he looks at the Strategy & Designing of campaigns which includes working with the likes of Sony, Atlantic & Universal.
Ellis is also an experienced Saxophonist and Jazz vocalist, Ellis is now looking at the industry from the enjoyment of a listener. Jazz has been a focal point to his music discovery, looking at how its origins have now influenced the modern industry.

For this episode, which is titled ‘The Long Arch of Jazz’ Rens Newland and Martin Fuss, who collectively run Jive Music Austria, dig in deep into the traditional and the extreme corners of the music that has influenced everything.
Rens is a master guitarist from Holland who has made his unique mark on the music scene through decades of tireless, dedicated work. Starting with his early years as a pop guitarist, he quickly transitioned into Blues and Jazz. This evolution led him to be a part of the Jazz-Rock revolution, and the USA Billboards Charts’ success of his first album with the band Scope. Among his notable accomplishments over his more than 4-decades musical career, is his work as musical Director and Guitarist for Gloria Gaynor and for The Supremes. Rens is a quadruple musical threat. He is a guitarist, producer, composer, and orchestrator, he has recorded over a dozen - mostly Jazz or Fusion jazz - albums under his own name, plus many more with other projects like the famous Ostinato, plus he is on numerous albums as a side-man.

Martin’s musical education started at the age of 12 with classical clarinet lessons - but shortly after he changed to the tenorsax. He completed his studies at the Conservatory of Music, Vienna (master of arts) and the Berklee College of Music(Boston/USA). He is one of the most demanded studio and session players as well as jazz soloist in styles ranging from small jazz groups to big band and also plays in orchestral settings. Since 1991 he is teaching at the University of Music in Vienna and is endorser for Schagerl Saxophones and D'ADDARIO PERFORMING ARTISTS.
