Parachute Planting  

This fortnight we are joined by Ger Jones. Originally from Wales, working professionally in London, and called to ministry via Vancouver.  Ger shares his journey, his heart for ministry, as well as the remarkable season of ministry that led him to “parachuting” with his family into LA to plant a life-giving church. He shares some of his profound learnings along the way, as well as his extensive use and passion for Alpha and the remarkable fruit Vintage has seen.   

What is perhaps most impressive about Ger in addition to his heart for reaching lost people, is his disposition before God and what the Lord is doing in him. We know this episode will be a great encouragement to you!

This fortnight we are joined by a quiet hero in the Australian Church, Sharon Wright. 8 years ago Sharon felt called by God to pack up her life, and head out to far west NSW, to a small town called Condobolin. With no immediate connections, no apparent strategy, and yet a deep conviction of God's call. Hear how she was able to initiate community, create space, and see God do the miraculous. Sharon also courageously shares some of the great insecurities she has faced as a single, Aboriginal woman, and the way that God has been able to work in and through her story to see many come into the Christian community and have several churches planted.

There is a significant trend towards Social Housing across our nation at present as more and more people are being housed in this way. Mark Schultz describes why the church must and how the church can re-position itself with new churches, missional communities and micro churches being established where the people are. Mark, who as part of the Together for Ryde Network chairs the Vertical Villages project www.verticalvillages.org.au describes some of the innovative ministry practices that are being implemented to reach people with the gospel. Mark also describes the enormous favour that has been won as a result of a NAYBA assessment which has highlighted how churches in the area have added $2.69 million in value to the community through the services they provide.

Reclaiming the diversity and opportunities within the Aussie church  This week we are joined by a remarkable leader in Sharon O'Neil. Sharon has become known as a significant voice in our nation when it comes to the incredible gifts and abilities God has given women in leadership. Sharon is a Senior Leader, church planter, Social Worker, and works widely in the city of Launceston to bring about community transformation.

In this episode Sharon talks about some of the unique challenges women in our nation face when it comes to being obedient to God’s call on their life and leadership. How can we create environments in which half of the body is able to serve, lead and flourish to their full extent?   

Furthermore, Sharon also spends time in this interview announcing two new and exciting initiatives designed to serve the body of Christ. “The Women’s Speakers Collective”, and “The Company” designed to champion and equip female church planters.
