Extra Noir Podcast

We are super excited to announce our latest release, a vinyl edition of Tokyo psychedelic trio Kuunatic's dark and dreamy EP Kuurandia. We immediately fell in love with their singular blend of psych, dub and traditional influences, all topped off with a touch of horror movie soundtrack. A perfect fit for Extra Noir!

Pre-order copies are available for $12 until Halloween.

We're back to our synthy, scuzzy roots in this episode. Nothing ambient, everything noisy. Look out for Mars, OOIOO, Decayes, Metal Urbain, Jezebel and more.

We recorded a live, all-vinyl set at Senggi Studio in Seoul for Tengger's Spiritual release party on 14 April. Unfortunately the recording had some technical issues, and wasn't really suitable for use as an episode. We had a lot of the tracks on mp3 already, however, and ripped some other ones from vinyl. This is basically a reconstruction of the set - same playlist, same sequence. Let's call it a digital echo of an analog moment.

A taster of things past and things to come... Episode has some choice 80s Japanese minimal synth and no wave, some classic post-punk and a few selections from Korea's avant-electro future, including Tengger, Yetsuby and Chawood.

After years in the London entertainment industry, the solo artist known as Pecht adopted a cryptic new identity and recorded his debut LP in exile on the north coast of Scotland. Like a Lovecraftian mystery unfolding in a Soho nightclub, the album references giallo and horror soundtracks, retro synth sounds and the hauntological explorations of Ghost Box Records. An ideal piece of arcana for Extra Noir's cabinet of curios.
