Extraneous: His Dark Materials

We are taking a small breather between parts two and three of Golden Compass to check in, take stock, award someone with entrance to the Extra Hall of Fame, add songs to our mixtape, and introduce the PotterCastian concept of Canon Conundrums to Extraneous! This is a short one, just a little calm before the storm of the final chapters of Golden Compass. Also Melissa adds an AMAZING song to the Mixtape and don’t you forget it.

It is an emotional episode this week as we walk with Lyra down the cold, steel mile at Bolvangar. Cry with us, laugh with us, BE EXTRA with us. Also, we have a new segment! We'll start off with a sorting (this time Lee Scoresby) (00:02:13), followed by our breakdown of chapters 16-17 (00:07:56). Then we'll give our overall impressions of the chapters (01:31:04), our Alethiometer reading (01:34:23), this week's HDM Mixtape (01:38:37), and Extra Award (01:48:26).

We made it to the end! Well, at least the original intended end of Supernatural. This season is SO much y’all - we meet Jody and Crowley and Lucifer; we travel to the past AND the future, and that’s only the beginning. Can you collect the four Horsemen rings needed to unlock this episode? Just kidding. This is a podcast, not the Cage. No rings required.

His Dark Materials gets darker, thornier, and even harder to tackle, but Melissa and Will are going to take you through it! In these chapters, we get to the Fields of Evil, Bolvangar itself. Chilling. After our intro, join us to discuss Ch 13 (00:01:33), Ch 14 (00:35:16), and Ch 15 (00:54:04), then some overall impressions (01:09:17), our Alethiometer readings (01:16:38), the HDM Mixtape (01:20:51), the Extra Award (01:29:13), and our wrap-up (01:32:19).
