Have your kids first, and then have cancer. Or... just don't have cancer at all. From one appointment to the next, my medical journey has NOT slowed down for a second since finding out I have cancer in mid-October. On today's episode, I share how we went from a family dealing with a cancer diagnosis to deciding to do IVF essentially overnight.

Most cancer merch is cheugy. There, I said it.
Thanks to the expertise from my designer, Mariah, an idea from my BFF, Maggie, and my determination to get shit done, BOOM, badass cancer merch was born.
Today I share the behind the scenes of why I created merch for this community I've unwillingly joined.
This is for me, and you... and for my cheerleaders. And for my loved ones worrying everyday. And my friends checking their phones for updates. And finally, for all the survivor sisters I've met, and those I have yet to meet.
If we're going to join the cancer community, we might as well look badass while doing so.

This episode is sooooo special. I share some of the great/funny messages I've received and a few gifts including a homemade video and song a friend wrote for me (insert crying emoji). Life will throw some crazy shit at you, but it's your support group who are going to lift you up when you're down. And that's been the case for me.
Throughout these weeks as I absorb all the love, prayers and support, I can't help to think of others in a serious situation like mine who don't have the support I do. This episode is for them. If you know of someone who needs some love right now, send them this episode. Let's spread it around the world, like a digital "get well soon" card.

I've known I've had cancer for less than three weeks and it feels like THREE YEARS. On this episode, I tell you about how it feels to have cancer. I share experiences and examples of how I've been dealing with sadness, stress, humor and wondering what the fck is going to happen to my nipples.
At this stage, we do not know if I'll have a lumpectomy or mastectomy, however we did learn news this week that is leaning me more towards a mastectomy (aka goodbye nipples).
Thank you for listening as I document this journey. This podcast allows me to create art, process my feelings and continue to move forward into facing fear.

I've unexpectedly decided to return to the podcast from my 100 day break because I'm about to start a facing fear journey unlike any before... I've been diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer. It really doesn't get anymore "facing fear" than that.
I was diagnosed on October 14. Essentially overnight, I went from a normal AF human, to someone now associated with the cancer community. I have the "best of the worst news" and will survive this. But for now, it's just the start of a journey through completely uncharted territory and I'm not sure where it's going to take me.
Turns out, podcasting is a cathartic way for me to process my feelings. So here goes.
P.S. - October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Please, on my behalf, make it a routine to check yourself out, remind your family to do so, eat some damn kale and go learn your family medical history.

Over the past few months, I can't seem to bring myself to get motivated enough to be consistent with anything in my life. And then I picked up the Motivation Manifesto by Brendon Burchard. I share his chapter, "On Fear" during this episode and my thoughts along with it.
After much thought and consideration, I've decided for the last 100 days of 2021, I am going to take a break from two things... my personal social media and producing the podcast.
I plan to work on the show in this break, but I will not be putting anything (recording or social media wise) into the world. I want to take this time to regroup, plan and come up with a way to have a consistent show that balances with my life.
I put up a video on my thoughts here on the @facingfearwithsara Instagram.
I love and thank you so much for listening and following along my journey. This is just another chapter in my book I feel is needed at this time.

Think you need a family, spouse, kids, significant others, etc to buy a home? Think again. You can do this for you and you only. And Dena Phillips is here to tell you how.
I wish the term "go-getter" was enough to describe Dena because after you hear this interview, you'll agree... she's MORE than that. Dena is a Zillenial (somewhere between Millenial and Gen Z) working hard and playing harder. She's a talent partner by day and a new homeowner doing DIY projects by night.
Dena's story is about buying a home on her own terms (insert emoji clapping hands here). She may not have been perfectly ready, had the exact amount she wanted saved or even had a partner in this, Dena forged her own path for HER future with a goal to create generational wealth.
