Facing Off

The boys are back in town! We got diabolical on this one breaking down the recent outrageous 3rd season of the Amazon Prime badboy superhero show "The Boys". We inject some Temp V and debate/discuss our thoughts on the season overall, character development, what we expect in the next season, and what our powers would be if we got our hands on some V. (This episode contains heavy spoilers and lots of naughty language).

What is your favorite season? What would your powers be? Let us know!

In a quest to fill the void left without Harry Potter movies, we focused on fantastic beasts and where to find them. In this episode, we face the second film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise "The Crimes of Grindelwald" off in a magical duel with the third and latest film "The Secrets of Dumbledore". We talk about all the magical beings, American and British muggles and wizards, and where the Harry Potter cinematic universe has gone since the first Fantastic Beasts movie. Listen as we use a Qilin to determine which movie was better.

SOME...BODY once told us to do a Shrekisode and so we set off on that quest. We found two magical animated movies in which the protagonist goes on a quest with an obnoxious companion to appreciate the magic fantasy of their worlds. We took the endlessly memeable legendary 2001 Dreamworks movie "Shrek" and faced it off against the underrated COVID Disney+ release "Onward". Does the Pixar movie stand a chance against the titan punny fairy tale classic? Is Chris Pratt's character a funnier sidekick than Eddie Murphy's "Donkey"?!? Find out how we rated them!

It's Cinco de Mayo, so we are talking about our favorite El Rata Alada! Straight from the dark crime-infested streets of Gotham, we got a special episode comparing two Batflicks where the World's Greatest Detective tries to stop a crazed villain, hellbent on exposing the hypocrisy of city leaders. We faced the new Pattinson-led 2022 film "The Batman" off against the legendary Bale caped crusader sequel "The Dark Knight". Can Matt Reeves' new Batman creation rise to the level of Christopher Nolan's superhero masterpiece? Does Dano shout his way to Ledger's iconic level? Find out how we rated them! (Episode contains spoilers)

We're coming for revenge and we're coming for your gold... On this episode, we were joined by our close friend Otto to discuss two team heist blockbusters with star-studded casts and plots driven by revenge for an old member of the team after he was betrayed by some douche. We faced the 2003 movie "The Italian Job" off against the 2007 trilogy-ender "Ocean's 13". Which film will drive off with the gold in a Mini Cooper and which will be defeated like a casino in an earthquake?

We don't talk about Bruno (no no no), but we DO talk about two latin-themed, music-centered, Oscar-winning animated Disney movies! We were delighted to be joined by our friend Zugey to face the 2017 Disney/Pixar Mexico-based classic "Coco" off against the 2021 Disney chart-topping Columbia-based musical "Encanto". They discuss the movies' cultural significances, curly hair, and the absolute banger soundtracks before deciding which one they liked more.

Be sure to let us know if you are Team Encanto or Team Coco!

We cannot keep this year's Oscars out our f***ing mouths... So we needed a special podcast episode about it breaking everything down from the big wins, The Slap Heard Around the World, the Academy's weird decisions, and all the cringiest moments. Layla and Gabe talked about what the Academy Awards have meant for them in their lives and the future of the Oscars, and Nick tries his hardest not to talk about Bruno while making ill-advised G.I. Jane jokes. Then, they give shoutouts and suggestions for some of the movies that didn't win many (or any) awards.

Let us know what you think should have won and follow us!

We are obsessed with movies and need this episode to be perfect... because today we talk about the intense 2014 music drama movie "Whiplash" and compare it to the haunting 2010 ballet thriller film "Black Swan". These are acclaimed movies about two lonely and talented performers with no friends but a single parent, and who are obsessed with perfection, going under the wings of successful and abusive mentors to achieve that perfection no matter the mental, emotional, and physical toll.

Which movie will win? Who will get the part?
