We learn in a parable in Luke 13 that even when a fig tree fails to produce good fruit, the gardener does not want to cut it down. Instead, he will dig around it, turn over the soil, add fertilizer, and prune it. Just like the gardener, Jesus will do the same for us. He will intercede for us when we are not producing fruit and say, 'Don't cut this one down just yet...'
Through his patience and grace, Jesus will help us bear fruit. But we don't have to do this alone; let fruitfulness be God's responsibility, and let faithfulness to Him be ours.
