Shame has a way of convincing us to hide—from others, from God, and sometimes even from ourselves. But from the garden of Eden to Jesus’ encounter with a woman facing public shame, we see a God who moves toward us, not away from us. In week three of Made for God, we look at how sin distorts our relationships and how the grace of Jesus meets us in our guilt, wounds, and deepest shame. Jesus knows our whole story, and He invites us out of hiding and into the freedom of His grace.

God made us for worship, love, and life with Him—and the people we’re becoming are shaped by more than what we believe. Every home is discipling someone into something, as our everyday rhythms, relationships, and habits shape what we love and how we live. In Deuteronomy 6, we see how becoming like Jesus happens in the ordinary moments of life, and because His grace meets us in the middle of our mess, we don’t have to get it all right to start becoming more like Him.

In 1 Timothy 4, Paul reminds Timothy that following Jesus is less about age, gifting, or having it all figured out and more about letting God shape our character, our lives, and the way we influence others. As we pursue progress, watch our lives, and persevere in faith, we do so not by trying harder, but by receiving and walking in the grace of Jesus—one ordinary, faithful moment at a time.
