  • Faith at Home Podcast: Listening Practice Psalm 75 (NET)

Today we are crying out for the Divine to exalt those who have been downtrodden for so long.

Psalm 75 joins with the outpourings of our hearts and reminds us that when we dissolve in fear, the Divine Family will be there. When those who have been pushed down, are finally raised up, the Divine Family will be there. And in all the moments in between, we can continually tell the story of what the Divine has done.

  • Faith at Home Podcast: Psalm 73 Listening Practice (NET)
The author of Psalm 73 felt big emotions. They turned in conversation toward the Divine Family. When we carry our emotions into conversation in a safe space, dialogue can help what needs to be healed come out into the light.

Envy. Jealousy. Hatred. Rage. Discontent. Doubt. Disappointment. Uncertainty. These feelings all belong and when engaged from the safe space of community and dialogue they can fuel our prayer and our spiritual health. As we listen together to Psalm 73 and enter conversation, through the dialogue we can hear the voice of the Life-Giving Spirit, the voice of the Divine Family. The Divine wants to speak to us in ways that we can understand and live. The volume on the internal voice that says, “I never hear God speak to me,” can be turned down if we listen together.

Through the process, we can be empowered to live out the changes that we are invited into by the Life-Giving Spirit’s power and comfort. Our world needs people who are living from a place of spiritual health because the dis-ease around us is threatening.

  • Faith at Home Podcast: Psalm 72 Listening Practice (NET)
Psalm 72 presents an interesting Listening Practice challenge.

It’s a prayer-poem written in praise of the king of a small, tribal nation three centuries ago.

And yet, through this prayer-poem we can listen for voice of the Divine and for what might speak to us from our own lives. Through the images of nature, we hear the Divine Family speak to us and we are encouraged to look beyond ourselves toward the abundance of God. We also hear an encouragement to record our stories and prayers.

  • Faith at Home Podcast: Psalm 71:13-24 Listening Practice (NET)
The last half of Psalm 71 takes us into listening as we wait, as we thank the Divine, as we experience trouble, and as we expect the Divine to be with us.

One of the brilliant things about a Listening Practice is that the very same process might speak very differently to you than it does to us. That’s because the Divine Family loves each individually and wants to speak to us in our own lives, in our own language and in our own circumstances.

Take a few moments to share a bit a conversation with someone you trust as you listen to the Divine at work in you today. Perhaps you’d like to write in your own Listening Book or contact Jennifer or Reade for some Spiritual Conversation.
