Why do we praise God- The Psalms are full of reasons. Psalm 113 gives us a few.

The Psalms are all about our lives before the living God. The first two psalms establish the foundation by declaring that God is sovereign over both the individual and the nations. He will judge, but continually extends grace.

What is a psalm- A psalm is a praise to God. The Book of Psalms is the songbook of the Bible and has been used by God's people to worship God for over 3000 years. We begin a new series this week on the Book of Psalms.

Psalm 149-1 say, -Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly.- This is a call for God's people to praise him in song, not as individuals, but as a congregation. When we do, we create unity, strength, and also point lost people toward God.

-Eat your vegetables, they're good for you,- our mothers said. Well that turned out to be true. The Bible not only tells us to sing praises to to God. It also happens to be good for us. The benefits are many. Not just spiritual benefits, but emotional, mental, and even physical as well.

Why do we sing- We were created in the image of God, and God himself sings. We have been commanded to sing in the Bible. And, when we know the wonderful things that God has done, we are compelled to sing.

From the womb, we have been given the ability to vocalize. We know now that even in the womb, a child can use their vocal cords. When we sing, we are fulfilling our created purpose. And when we sing God-s praise, we join with the tune of the cosmos.

Peter failed to follow Jesus twice. In the epilogue to the Gospel of John, he is invited by Jesus to -follow me.- He was restored and followed him until the day of his death.

Do we really have to see to believe- Jesus told Thomas that those who believed yet did not see were also blessed.

The day that Jesus died on the cross, death died. He conquered death and rescued his people from the power of death and --Satan.
