Paul describes God’s promises to His loyal ones. God rewards loyalty, but not disloyalty.  The promises of security, motivation and comfort are yours if you are His. Paul gives a song, a verse or a poem of deep theological truth which will blow you away.

Are we good at worship? Are we worshiping the right God, for the right reasons, in the right way? Do we even know what worship is? In John 4, Jesus spoke with the Samaritan woman, and we can learn from their conversation what God expects in our worship.

Second Timothy opens on a sweet passage about Christ and the cross. Paul gives Timothy four powerful motives for living aggressively for Christ in verses 8 to 13. The PREEMINENCE of Christ, the POWER of God’s Word, the PURPOSE of Ministry, and (covered next week) the PROMISES of Christ.

We continue in 2 Timothy and look at how the farmer paints a picture of the Christian life we need to pursue.

Paul commands Timothy to live and minister like a soldier. The Christian life is not passive, but aggressive. When a Christian lives like a soldier, he can live more fruitfully and more effectively for God’s glory.

Paul will instruct Timothy and you about the power to train, the procedure to train and the price to train others. All parents, disciplers, shepherds and those who care about the next generation will love this.

Paul motivates Timothy with the positive impact of a courageous example and the negative impact of a cowardly example. In verses 15-18, Paul encourages Timothy to be a model that actually promotes Christ-like courage. This is encouraging truth especially for dads, disciplers, men and women.

Second Timothy 1:12-14 is Paul's instruction to Timothy on how you can grow courageous. Paul hopes Timothy will grow confident in Christ and firmly committed to God’s Word in order to live unashamed, not embarrassed and increase in boldness over Christ, the Gospel and his ministry. You and I need this passage.

Paul challenges Timothy to stand up and shout for Christ. Are you willing to stand tall and suffer for Christ and the good news of the Gospel message? If you have ever shied away from speaking up about Christ, this will be a great encouragement.
