Too often, families are divided over how assets are passed down to the next generation. To help us avoid some of those family disputes, Rob West and Steve Moore are joined by financial author and co-founder of Kingdom Advisors, Ron Blue. They offer the follow suggestions (and others) which apply whether you’re passing on a little or a lot:

You want to help you children and grandchildren without harming them. Some may have greater needs and some may have greater ability to handle an inheritance wisely. Give accordingly.

Manage the expectations of your children and your spouse. It’s easier to have inheritance discussions around the coffee table than around a coffin so do it early.

Consider how you’ll deal with sons- and daughters-in-law, step-children and step-grandchildren.

Don’t forget to plan your giving to your church or other charities.
