On today’s podcast we welcome Dr. Melissa Ewing, an adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University.  As a former children's minister we discuss loss we often deal with as adults and how we walk that road with the children in our lives.  We also discuss different types of loss, stages of grief in loss and what we can experience or also see in our children. Dr. Ewing talks about how dealing with loss in children is different from adults, things we can do to help as adults in their life and when to reach out for professional help. As parents, our children and the ways we handle the weight of loss can have lasting affects on the kiddos we love, and how we approach this conversation from a Christian perspective is one full of hope.

Happy Wednesday! Can you describe what the Bible has to say about God's plan to be with us in a few sentences? Or what character trait of God has he shown you through your quiet times?

For me, it is that God is my provision. God has always been the answer to the nagging questions in my life. From the loudest 'what if's', to the quiet self doubt, Jehoveh Jireh, the Lord will provide, is my comfort and seen in scripture from start to finish.

Today I am sharing how God has used scripture, people around me and reflection to reveal his provision and love for me from the very beginning...past and present. He is FAITHFUL BEFORE, FAITHFUL AGAIN.

Everyone has their own story, but we are all meant to share what God has done in our lives.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY WEEK!  Raising kids to leave the nest is a daunting task to be sure and seems super far off.  But as they say....it goes by FAST! Will they remember what we taught them?  Do they know how to cook/do laundry? Where to go if they have car trouble? Will they hold to their faith in Christ they grew up in?

As a stay at home mom for 16 years, sending off our three children out into the world and seeing our family dynamic change, was an adjustment to say the least, but then that’s my perspective. For this episode, I wanted to get a young adults’ perspective on leaving the nest, so this week, I’m talking to my three children about their experiences leaving home, their mindset, growth and stepping into adulthood.
