Scripture: Hosea 13:7 - 14:9, God calls for death and punishment in the Old Testament, then in I Corinthians 15:52-55 "Death is swallowed up in victory" Here death and hell are defeated by God at the Judgment Day. Verse 14:2 "Confess and return to the Lord. Cry out to the Messiah (14:4) heal me of my faithlessness! God's love has no bounds, his anger is gone forever. Hosea has to pay the ransom to get his wife back. God who married Himself to His people does not forsake them. His answer is in Christ.

Scripture: Hosea 12-13

Scripture: Hosea 11; Luke 23:30, Theme recently has been: "The more God blesses, the more evil comes out". Verse 11:2 "the more they were called, the more they moved from Me". God treats Israel as "one". In the New Testament Christ comes and is treated as "one". So it goes for Jesus, it goes for us because we are "in Christ", we (Church) are "one" in Christ. Christ is the One who bends down and feeds us.

Scripture: Hosea 9:10-10:9, Real Israel is the people who believe in God. In verse 9:10 God talks of His love for Israel (true believers). There is no such thing as a Christian nation. Verse 9:12b "it will be a terrible day when God turns from you". Verses 10:1-3 is a biblical picture of what God did for Israel.

Scripture: Hosea 8

Scripture: Hosea 6, Chapter 6 is strong gospel. Verse 6:1 is the verse that simply states Hosea's message. i.e. "God kills in order to make us alive". Now, God just heals, the Devil, the world and our flesh tears us down. God is not the author of evil. He is the Author of the curses and the judgments. Judgment is not yet. Today is the day of mercy. The day of judgment is coming. God wants love, not sacrifices. God wants our heart, not our burnt offerings.Here Hosea is unloading both barrels of the Law, coming from his knowledge in his relationship with Gomer.
