How is a Christian to read the book of Revelation? One answer is to think of Revelation as the Fifth Gospel. It should not be viewed as a chronology of events that takes place before Christ returns. If you read Revelation in one hand as a chronological list of events to come and a newspaper in the other hand, anxiety will result. Revelation declares that Jesus wins and the Church is triumphant in the end. Christians are on the winning team. This is great comfort now. Revelation is not an instruction manual of how to survive the End Times, it is the unveiling of Jesus from His ascension to His return worthy of our thanks and praise.

Dispensationalism is examined in some detail. What is dispensationalism? When did it come about? Is dispensational teaching consistent with biblical truth? Does God treat Israel special? Should we read Revelation literally? What is the proper view of the rapture? These are among the subjects covered in this exceptional session.

In the context of eschatology, Pastor Rhode reviews the meaning of the bible's three references to 1000 years. What does it mean that the Devil is bound? Two resurrections are mentioned in Revelation, when does the first resurrection occur for a Christian? When is the "Serpent's head" crushed? When and how are the "gates of hell" under siege? This lesson gives an accurate biblical view of the end times.

The End Times discussion continues. A 1000 years of what is examined from the three places in scripture, Psalm 90:4; 2 Peter 3:8; and Revelation 20:1-10. How are Christians to live in these "Last Days"? Eschatology, the study of the end times is simple: be ready, Jesus is coming, that's it! We are to stay awake and pray for strength because Christ's return will be sudden, like a "thief in the night". Live now as if each day is your last day on earth. This session ends with a comparison of American Christianity's view of the end times with what the Bible says [38:40].

Prayer is warfare. Prayer is an act of subversion against the world. Prayer is rebellion against the devil. It's a skill that can be developed but also a skill that is perishable. A modest daily routine of morning, mealtimes, and evening prayers is a good habit to shoot for.

A key feature of American Christianity is Mission Crisis. It is a constant worry over doing enough 'churchy' stuff. Every conversation has to be about 'sharing Jesus' or correcting your fellow Christians. The normal stuff of daily life is put on the back-burner. But this anxiety is rooted in faithlessness. Jesus has not authorized us to worry.

Introduction to Eschatology (study of the last things/ end times) is given. Are we living in the end times? Yes! We have been for the last 2000 years!

"Why are we to pray?" Pastor gives four reasons (2:00); Questions are asked (19:00); "Should a prayer be spontaneous (i.e. from the heart) or should it be a pattern/common prayer?" Is there room for both? (21:00); Pastor offers an example of a spontaneous, ex-corde, prayer based on the riches of God's goodness and promises, not a prayer out of the poverty of our hearts (30:00); Questions are asked (34:00).

Prayer is wrestling with God. Learn what this means. Isn't it true that when we need prayer the most, we have the least desire to pray. Why? Is spontaneous prayer good? Why or why not? God desires us to pray and He promises to hear and answer our prayers, yet we are so sick (Luther says we have spiritual leprosy), that we often don't know what we need to pray. What does it mean to pray God's promises back to Him? Answers to these questions and other biblical truths about prayer are covered in this session from the book.

The view that we have a relationship with Christ is not in the Bible. This session focuses on why this is true and what unity with Christ and the mystical union means. Proper piety is discussed in this context.

What is worship? Are we the ones giving to God in worship? Or is God giving to us? Jesus says, "I came not be served but to serve." He serves us by His speaking. In worship service we allow God to speak His living Word into our hearts. Psalm 100 is a response for what He has already done for us. Christ serves us via His Word and His Table (Lord's Supper).
