What is worship? Are we the ones giving to God in worship? Or is God giving to us? Jesus says, "I came not be served but to serve." He serves us by His speaking. In worship service we allow God to speak His living Word into our hearts. Psalm 100 is a response for what He has already done for us. Christ serves us via His Word and His Table (Lord's Supper). Our discussion in this session centers around love and vocation. God is love. His love is delivered through His Son into the world. We love because God first loved us. Our love flows from God's love. This is the proper understanding of love. Our vocations define how our love looks. Join to learn what God's Word says to us about these two important aspects of our lives.

How is a theologian formed? Through obedient suffering according to God's will.

Law Love: You try but inevitably fail to love God and your neighbor (repentance).

Gospel Love: God's love for sinful/ unlovable man (redemption). God's selflessness in giving his son and in his son's giving himself for your salvation. Faith in this salvation comes first. From that follows good works done out of gratitude for this salvation.

The Table of Duties within the Small Catechism is the subject of this class. Pastor Rhode reviews the six important vocations of child-parent, husband-wife, and employee-employer. He provides both warnings and exhortations to Christians regarding the creeping "government religion" that has impinged on the Church. This lecture awakens the estate of Family, especially the leadership vocation of father and husband as well as Church leadership to the consequences of what is taking place. A prescription of action is given.

Holding to the faith, with a pure heart and a good conscience, is the aim God has for us in this life. Our conscience is like an internal referee, guiding and directing us to God's will. A calloused conscience is one that tolerates and accepts sin. Like any other organ in the human body, when abused, damage occurs. The Ten Commandments are an antidote for a calloused conscience. Good works done by Christians continue in today's discussion. Are we to reform the Old Adam in us, or should the Old Adam be severed from the New Man in us?
