Page 95 of the book is

"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil." Why can I say this? Where the Gospel goes away, either pride or despair exist. Spiritual treadmills can be exhausting. In Christianity, we must take our eyes off ourselves and put them on Jesus. The parable of the Vine and Branches defines this truth. We bear fruit if we focus on being attached to the Vine, Jesus Christ. The Cross is the central teaching of the Lutheran church. We have peace with God only through Christ and this is grasped by faith. God takes the obedience of Christ and credits it to us. Faith is that which receives what God offers.
