In our daily lives, we are frequently distracted. Even the simplest things, such as work or a relationship, can cause us to become distracted. The enemy is always looking for ways to divert our attention away from God. Pastor Jimmy explains how to avoid all distractions that the enemy throws at you in today's message. You may find that the people around you are a source of distraction at times. All you have to do is keep your distance from them and maintain your relationship with God in every situation.

We do face many challenges in our lives. We frequently make mistakes, whether at work or in relationships and end up in a bad situation. Even our adversary, Satan, is constantly on the lookout for ways to bring us down physically, mentally, and emotionally by throwing trials at us. Who can we turn to for help? Wow. That cuts right to the heart. If you put yourself in that place, with a spouse who continues to go through all the motions, but has let their love grow cold - you can only go on for so long that way. In today’s message, Pastor Jimmy asks you to examine your own heart. Have you become like a disenchanted lover in your relationship with Jesus? You go to church, sing the songs, and shake some hands, but you’ve lost your passion for the Gospel of redemptive love that freed your soul from the slavery of sin? 

Church is so much more than a social event designed to make friends with people of like minds. As Pastor Jimmy will explain in today’s message, at Family Church, we’re living out the Gospel in how we build up and care for each other as individuals, families, and communities. This mission crosses racial, ethnic, and social boundaries that easily divide us in our broken world. You can be a part of that from right where you are. Jesus invites all of us to participate in the Gospel as a body of believers.

Many people hear the words “Revelation” or “apocalypse” and it brings an image of global catastrophe and chaos. Movies and books are largely responsible for the negative association we have with this book of the Bible and the end of this world. Certainly, for those who reject Jesus, the end will be a dark time. But, as Pastor Jimmy will remind us in today’s message, this book reveals good news to those who trust in Christ. It brings light and hope in the midst of a fallen and broken world. 

We need to process our world events through the lens of the Bible. All too often, as Pastor Jimmy will warn in today’s message, we try to make the Bible - and specifically the end times prophecy it contains - conform to current events and figures. There certainly are things we see happening that connect directly to Scripture, but we need to be careful that we aren’t making up our own connections. The Holy Spirit wants to guide us into His Truth if we’ll simply submit ourselves to His guidance.

Today, Pastor Jimmy will be explaining how Jesus fulfills the role of the prophet, priest as well as king. Normally, the three offices of prophet, priest, and king were distinct from each other, with no overlap. That is, a king was not a priest or a prophet. A priest did not function as a prophet or a king. And a prophet simply did a prophet’s job without trying to be either king or a priest. God didn’t allow a priest to be a king, or a king a priest. But Jesus Christ perfectly fills all three roles simultaneously.

As Pastor Jimmy continues his teaching series through the book of Psalms, he’ll be challenging you to make the decision to follow Jesus if you haven't already. There’s no such thing as being neutral in this spiritual battle. You are either a child of God or a child of the devil. Jesus Himself said, He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me, scatters abroad. Saying that you're undecided about following the Lord, is actually a decision to remain in your sins! 

There’s an argument some unbelievers make, saying statements like: “How can God be loving and send people to Hell”?. The answer is very simple. God is love, and God is also a righteous judge. Would it be loving for God to not bring judgment and punish those doing exceedingly wicked things to other people? God is gracious and long-suffering, and even allows the most wicked people a chance to repent! Today, Pastor Jimmy will be reminding you that God is both equally loving and righteous. 

Everyone is in need of redemption because no one is without sin! As Pastor Jimmy continues his teaching series through the book of Psalms, he’ll be explaining how all have fallen short of the glory of God, and without forgiveness, are destined for eternal separation from God. One of the biggest lies of the enemy is to try and convince people that they aren’t that bad, and don’t deserve Hell. God is perfect and righteous, and sin cannot dwell in His presence. God’s standard is perfection.
