The latest foray into the world of Roald Dahl is with Warners Bros.’ magical musical prequel to “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971), titled “Wonka.” While the film was released in theaters in December 2023, February 2024 marks when the movie is available for digital purchase, so we are doing a deep dive! Producer KellieAnn hosts this episode with her fellow theatrical neighbor, Aimee Snow.

Season 2 of “HALO” is now on Paramount+ and continues the adventures of Master Chief in this excellently-made streaming series based on the video games.

The World War II historical drama from "Band of Brothers" producers has great production quality and details. Over on Amazon Prime Video, there is a fine new retelling of the famous swashbuckling hero, "Zorro." While it was enjoyable, the English dub wasn't as good as it could have been. And in select theaters, "The Zone of Interest" reminds us that real people can do terrible things once they've dehumanized another group of real people.

The big movie of the week, "Night Swim," is not the best offering from Blumhouse Horror, with the trailer being scarier than the movie. For something more bloody, there is “Mayhem!" a super-bloody revenge pic that features a lot of Muy Thai martial arts. “Race for Glory: Audi vs. Lancia" tells a story about the true events of the 1983 Rally World championships where Lancia finally was able to take on Audi successfully. And for a comedic throwback, ”Weak Layer" is a comedy ski movie that made Andy even want to hit the slopes! 

Over in the world of streaming shows, Netflix’s  "Society of the Snow"  is Andy’s pick-of-the-week, a difficult but worthwhile watch following the survival of the 45 people who crashed in the Andes mountains of South America in 1972. Amazon Prime Video has a sci-fi movie featuring Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan called "Foe." On Netflix, Michelle Yeoh stars in a decent action/comedy series, "The Brothers Sun," and even features secret improv classes. And finally, Hulu’s "Daughters of the Cult" is a docu-series that talks with family members of Ervil LeBaron, the religious leader whose followers killed other polygamous leaders during the 1970s and early 1980s.
