Fantasy Benchwarmers

Russell Westbrook is a perennial all-star and a former MVP known for being a triple double machine. In fantasy basketball, well, he is probably one of the more annoying players to own. We already know the flaws in his fantasy game, but with decent scoring, and elite rebounds and assists stats, we give him a pass. Now though, man! His stats are close to another member of the all-inefficient team - Kevin Porter Jr. Ouch! So what to do?

Domantas Sabonis is being reported to have hurt his ankle late in the game this morning; though no tag has been given yet to Sabonis. If Sabonis misses time, could this be the real Goga time?

It's a quiet day of basketball with just two NBA games on the slate. The chatter though outside the basketball court, particularly on some injured players has been noisier. And the news weren't really all that good. Paul George for one is set to miss a few more weeks, that's not even the worst part. It is also possible he misses the rest of the season if his elbow would require surgery. Something PG13 owners would not want to hear.

Myles Turner's second opinion seem to be no different from the first. He will be out until at least the All-Star break and then we don't know what happens next. This though is not surprising for fantasy managers who have had Turner in their lineups before of have observed the yearly trend on Turner's fantasy impact. It's just that this one (the injury) seem to have come a little earlier than usual. It could be Goga Time though!

Lastly, Lonzo Ball update wasn't all that good too. At least though his timeline could be shorter. Well, that's the best case scenario. Let's all hope for the best case scenario and not talk about the worst.

Plus, we discuss some players we are keeping an eye on - some low end guys with very little value at the moment, but could be gems towards the latter part of the fantasy season.

One of the most talked about topic today in the fantasy world is Omer Yurtseven. He went from averaging a double double the past few weeks to a DNP-CD on the first game back of Bam Adebayo. So what now? Do we drop or is this just a "rest" game? He played too well to just get 0 minutes, so I think owners should give him a game more to see if he is indeed a drop. 

Another center problem is Daniel Gafford. It is slowly looking like he is the guy that will be negatively affected by this center logjam in Washington with Thomas Bryant slowly eating up Gafford's minutes. Do we drop Gafford now?

We're back! Finally! The past 2 weeks have been rough from they "busy" standpoint. Thankfully all is well now and all your well wishes are truly appreciated!

Now let's get back to fantasy basketball! We catch up on some stuff we missed out the past couple of weeks starting with Damian Lillard and Paul George. We then look into Kevin Durant's knee sprain, Steph Curry's sore hand and Zach Lavine's knee.

Darius Garland gave his owners a very nice line today - actually he's been giving great lines for the past few weeks now. He's definitely moving up into among the elite point guards in fantasy.

I don't know how many times we've said "Jimmy Butler down again." as our pod title, but yeah he is down again and this one didn't look good. We'll wait for official diagnosis and timeline but don't expect too much good news about it. Butler could end up being one of the more disappointing fantasy player this season just because he could not get himself healthy enough to string some good games. 

Another nice performance from Ja Morant. Should we believe this now? How would you rank these three up and coming young PGs - Ja, Dejounte and Haliburton?

I nearly forgot Steph Curry and his stinker. I mean, for a top 2-3 player in fantasy, it's really hard to accept stat lines like today. 3 of 17 FG?! So Commish posed a question I will be thinking about tonight. For Steph Curry owners, would you trade him for a healthy Joel Embiid?

Did Jaylen Brown hear our complaints? That's just us feeling like Jaylen cares about our complaints, but really it's nice to see Brown give some great performances without Jayson Tatum. Now the question for fantasy managers - do you trade him and sell high? Commish thinks you should. Though I did not really voice out my take I'm a 50/50 on this. What do you think?

With these COVID situation a lot of replacements emerged to be quite nice players - Jalen Smith and Omer Yurtseven are two of those intriguing players. Should their respective teams give them minutes even if some of their regular rotation players return?

COVID news in the NBA is getting a bit boring these days. So news like Kevin Porter Jr. walking out on his team at halftime or Christian Wood refusing to play the second half of their game is welcome drama fans would love to see. Okay, maybe not all fans, but I certainly will be following this story. Fantasy-wise, a possible shake up with Wood being traded could be the distraction we would need from the usual health and safety protocols update we get. Let's see how this ends up.

We discuss Jordan Poole's role with Klay Thompson about to return in a week or two. Would he still have fantasy value as a 6th man? 

I know we're tired of hearing health and safety protocols, but a few guys got in today - SGA, Valanciunas, Richaun Holmes and Luke Kennard.

Happy 2022 to everyone! First Daily Fantasy Quickie of the new year! Allow me to wish everyone a great 2022 ahead not just in fantasy basketball but in real life too!

In this quickie commish and I discuss Chris Paul's seemingly "ok" season. Should we be worried that he seems to just be cruising along? The numbers have been good, but maybe we were just spoiled by CP3 for years that owners tend to look for those big numbers.

If you were to choose the rest of the season, who would you rather have in your team, Donovan Mitchell or Jimmy Butler? The former is your dean's lister student who just goes to work every single day, while the other is your other dean's lister student who knows he is really good that missing a few days of work will not really get him in danger of failing exams. Not really the best analogy, I must admit, but you know what I mean.

Then more Lebron James. Sheesh this guy! Forty three points in 29 minutes!
