Reformers of the 1920s like J. Gresham Machen saw the educational institutions and government-controlled systems as “far more dangerous” than the crude tyrannies of the past.  What would he say about our present day — with 5 times more government (as a percentage of the GNI) and 10 times more immorality?  We have hardly recognized the damage done to the family and to the church by our modern systems.  What the government funds, the government controls. And what the government controls, the government destroys (except for that which God has delegated to it).
