  • FAR OUT #105 ~ Life After a Near Death Experience: Following the Brightest Path with Shawna Ristic
In Kansas in 1993, at the age of 19, Shawna Ristic was on her way to shadowy places when she had a violent car accident. She was found on the opposite side of the freeway, forty feet from the wreckage, unconscious and turning blue.
Shawna woke up from a coma three weeks later. Doctors predicted severe brain damage and expected she'd never walk again. Within four weeks she walked out of the hospital completely healed.
During her time on the other side, Shawna experienced a spiritual awakening she would keep more or less quiet about for the next two decades, where she met a body of light beings she calls "The Council." When she returned to this world, she found herself blasted open energetically and in touch with overwhelming intuitive and psychic powers she hadn't known before.
We talk with Shawna about her extraordinary near death experience and her subsequent journey over the last 27 years as a healer and spiritual guide.

  • FAR OUT #104 ~ Pyschedelic Journeying as a Couple: A Conversation Between the Masculine and the Feminine
Well we're at it again. We're talking about psychedelics.
This time we explore several psychedelic journeys we've taken just the two of us and what the rewards of intentionally working with psychedelics in the context of a committed relationship can be. For us, psychedelics have been an indispensable tool in our relationship that we wouldn't want to be without.
Julie-Roxane gets personal, Alasdair gets abstract and we both get a little far out.
    Let's get into it!

  • FAR OUT #103 ~ Survival of the Fittest, Building an Anti-Library and Other Approaches to Reading
The right book at the right time has the potential to change the trajectory of your life. That's why we don't set a budget for books. It's also why we love talking about reading.
We live in an unprecedented time where our access to knowledge and ideas is almost unlimited and costs almost nothing. Nobody before you has ever known such an opportunity. How can you make the most of it? By reading.
We explore why we read along with our strategies and tactics for reading, like why the books you haven't read are more important than the ones you have, how the books you are looking for are looking for you, why it's way too costly to limit how much you spend on books, when you should heed a book recommendation and why you should never force yourself to finish a book.

  • FAR OUT #102 ~ Unhustle Your Life with Milena Regos
We're no strangers to burn out. As entrepreneurs, creatives, freelancers and self-employed, we step off the beaten path in order to realize greater freedom and get away from the 9-5 hustle. Yet a common trap we often encounter is falling back into the hustle mentality we left behind us---just in a new guise.
We invite our friend and former hustle-addict Milena Regos, founder of Unhustle, on the podcast this week to talk about this challenge and what we can do about it.

  • FAR OUT #101 ~ Kambito Kambocito: Surrender to the Frog
On this episode we explore our ongoing experiences with Kambo and attempt to explain our recent decision to leave the tropical paradise we planned to live in for years to travel around the US in a camper serving frog toxin to people.
Short answer? The frog told us to do it.
Long answer? Well, you'll need to tune in for that...

  • FAR OUT #100 ~ Then and Now: Our FAR OUT Journey
Did we really make it to 100 episodes of the FAR OUT podcast?!?!?
On this very special episode we reintroduce ourselves for those who are new around here, reflect on our journey to 100 and what it's all about and what you can expect here at FAR OUT over the next 100 episodes (yep, we said it!)

  • FAR OUT#99 ~ Diet Update: You *Can* Feel Better Than This
Alasdair explains why men should pee sitting down.
After that we get into the meat of this episode: food. It's been over a year since we've talked about what we eat on the podcast and a lot has happened since. We thought it was due time to give an update.
Food is a difficult and confusing topic and it has been an important piece of our spiritual journey. We explore the pitfalls we both encountered after years on a vegan diet, the changes we made, the ways food is inextricably interconnected with every aspect of healing, how we think about food these days and some not-so-hard rules we live by.
