Today we continue our journey through the district sites ofthe Far West Local Health District where we find our way to Menindee, famous as the oldest European settlement on the Darling River, the last stop for ill-fated Burke and Wills, and the impressive Kinchega Woolshed. Menindee is also renowned for its vast and beautiful Menindee Lakes, which attracts visitors for its beauty, fishing and birdlife.
Today “the girl from Ireland”, Kate Kingston, joins us in thestudio to share what it's like to work in Menindee, how Kate found her way to Menindee and what brought her back to such a magnificent place.

Today we continue our journey south through the Far West Local Health District, this time landing in Wilcannia.
Wilcannia, known as the "Queen City of the West," is situated 200 km east of Broken Hill on the Darling/Barka River. Famous for it's 19th-century architecture and paddle steamers, Wilcannia served as a major transport hub in the 1880s. In the 1880s and 90s, Wilcannia was the third largest port in New South Wales (after Sydney and Morpeth), managing shipping for wool, wheat, and supplies.
Today Sam Elliott joins us in the studio. Sam is a Clinical Nurse Educator for the Far West Local Health District and is a Wilcannia local with strong family ties to the Health Service.

Today we continue our journey through the district sites of the Far West Local Health District where we find our way to White Cliffs, famous for being Australia’s oldest commercial opal field, located approximately 255 km northeast of Broken Hill. The opal mining town is home to approximately 150 people but is surrounded by large grazing properties.
Today in the studio we meet Ashley Mortimer, our bright and bubbly Clinical Nurse Specialist for Education, who shares what it’s like to work and support the remote Health Service of White Cliffs. Today we launch season 10 of the Far West of Centre – Health in Outback NSW podcast. This season we focus on our District Sites, commencing our journey in Tibooburra, before heading south through the Far West Local Health District.
Tibooburra is located in the far northwest of New South Wales and is located approximately 50km from the Queensland border. Famous for the gold rush in the 1880s, Tibooburra town is now home to approximately 100 people, with many additional residents also living on outlying stations.
In the studio today, we are joined by Viv Fazulla, Health Service Manager at Tibooburra Health Service. Viv gives an insight into her extensive career in rural and remote nursing, how one of the most remote Health Service’s operates, and share in the memories that Viv will carry for life.
