You know I couldn’t let Halloween come and not release a special episode! Welcome… to MALEVOLENT MONDAY!!! Mwooohahahahahahahahaha!!!
On this week’s SPECIAL episode, the hosts from the dearly missed Slash Lot podcast unite with the boys from The Criterion Break to bring the Killer Countdown back from the grave! This motley crew is counting down what they consider to be the Top 20 Horror Films of the 1990s. Make your predictions and prepare to toss them out the window faster than you can say Candyman five times, because these boys throw caution to the wind and make a wildly unpredictable list of favorites. Will special guest host, Derrick Veurink, be able to maintain order? Will any of the classics make the cut or will you Scream out of frustration?

Halloween season rolls along at full speed here on Let’s Taco ‘Bout! I couldn’t be more excited to share this week’s episode with you! On this week’s episode, I am joined by Heather Wixson, managing editor of Daily Dead, contributor to Fangoria Magazine, and panelist on the In Search of Darkness documentaries. Heather is on the show to help promote her new book, Monsters, Makeup & Effects: Volume 2, an awesome look at the geniuses behind many of the screen creatures and gore effects we have come to love over the years. We chat about how Heather came to love movies, where horror factors into the equation, and the adventures her passion for writing has taken her on. We then dive into this week’s featured movie, Dario Argento’s Tenebrae!
You can find Heather online on Twitter @thehorrorchick, and purchase her book, Monsters, Makeup & Effects: Volume 2, at aminkpublishing.com!

This week, The Criterion Break returns, and what an episode to fire back with. Derrick and Andy bring all they can to the table to make up for Blake’s absence. The two discuss the Criterion adjacent release, Memoria, from director Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Memoria’s roadshow release strategy found its way to Sioux Falls and our hosts took it in as part of a double feature.
But what film was paired with the meditative art house experience?
An experience of a whole different kind, John Waters’ midnight movie, Pink Flamingos, played The State this past weekend and our hosts were able to take in the shit show. Andy and Derrick discuss the cult classic and express their complicated enjoyment and appreciation of the film that made Waters and Divine household names.

The Criterion Break returns this week!
After wrapping up their miniseries on the works of Ingmar Bergman, the boys needed a little breather. Going through their recent purchases during Barnes and Noble’s 50% off Criterion sale, the hosts came up with three movies to watch and discuss: Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull, Mira Nair’s Mississippi Masala, and Claire Denis’s Beau Travail. Find out where the guys landed on their journey with DeNiro, Denzel, and the rhythm of the night.

We have finally arrived at the end of our journey. The Criterion Break returns to say goodbye to Bergman. We close up our four-part miniseries by watching Bergman’s self-described swan song (before he decided to continue to work), 1982’s Fanny and Alexander. We also wrap things up nicely with a bow by ranking the seven films we watched throughout the series.
