Fate, Luck & Karma: Geek Culture with a Side of Strange

In the first of a new wider-ranging Fate, Luck & Karma, join Dean, Theo and Jay as they explore Ghostbusters news... and a whole lot more.

We'll talk about why we made the decision to cover not just Ghostbusters, but also stories from the wider geeky and paranormal worlds (and don't worry, we'll of course still cover Ghostbuster news as it arises, but as we say in the intro, there's a big geeky world out there, and we want to explore it with you!).

So, listen in to learn more about the eye-wateringly expensive Pokémon Lego range - which, as a little sidenote, sold out the Gift With Purchase extras while we were recording this episode - hear about how the Netflix Ghostbusters animated series is nowhere to be seen in 2026, how vampire movie Sinners flew the flag for horror at the Golden Globes, how the team behind Weapons are heading up a new Mummy movie, plus hear how we felt after the climactic finale of Stranger Things.

All of this, plus our reactions to the first four teasers for Avengers: Doomsday!

Let us know your thoughts by leaving us a comment wherever you find this episode, or you can drop us a line on our social media channels or through our WhatsApp.

It's a New Year, it's a new season, and it's a whole new world the geeky and the strange to explore. Let's get started, shall we...?

Join Dean, Theo and Jay as they wrap up another year and another season of Fate, Luck & Karma... albeit in a completely unplanned, on-the-fly, deciding while recording kinda way.

You'll hear the team discuss the upcoming Ghostbusters: Half-Life fan film - with an almost completely child cast - as well as shout-out some of the great fundraising efforts as part of the Ghostbusters Give Back campaign.

Plus, the guys play out YOUR Christmas voicenotes and messages, and also unveil their attempt at securing a Christmas No.1 single, which is really just an excuse to say thank you to our listeners in 83 countries worldwide.

Finally, the team sign off with their best wishes for you, dear listener, as we say goodbye to 2025 and to Season 2, and look ahead to the New Year.

So kick back, grab some mince pies, stoke the fire, gather the family close and join us for Fate, Luck & Karma: S02E30 - our season finale and Christmas special! Merry Christmas to all... and to all, a good night!

It’s beginning to look a lot like… buyer’s remorse...? Well, not on our watch! In this episode, we’re diving into the ultimate Ghostbusters Christmas Gift Guide - from budget-friendly stocking fillers to the eye-watering £1000+ collectibles that make your wallet scream louder than a terror dog. And if you act fast, you'll have them under the tree in time for Christmas...

We also break down the results of two very different auctions:

• the screen-used truck from Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
• and a fan-built Ecto-1

One sold for a surprisingly small amount, while the other very much over-delivered. You might be surprised which is which...

PLUS! We're officially entering our interactive era: we reveal our brand new WhatsApp number so you can send us messages, voice notes, or even request a shout-out on the show. Don’t be shy - we love hearing from the Fate, Luck & Karma family - wherever you are.

Meanwhile:
The team share what they’re hoping to find under the tree this year
Dean summons his inner 80s DJ
Jay uncovers some unbelievable Ghostbusters bargains
And Theo? Well Theo keeps finding new ways to sing every intro and outro. The man was born for the stage. Or the podcast mic. Either or.

So grab your cocoa, plug in the fairy lights, and settle in, and make Fate, Luck & Karma your new festive tradition. This episode is stuffed fuller than a Christmas stocking at the North Pole!

In this festive, franchise-powered episode of Fate, Luck & Karma, hosts Dean, Jay and Theo from the West Midlands Ghostbusters welcome special guests Bill and Phil from Ghostbusters Northern Ireland. The crew dive into the heartwarming “Pass The Trap” Christmas campaign - a global Ghostbusters community project encouraging franchises worldwide to film themselves passing a ghost trap, spreading seasonal cheer and messages of unity across the fandom.

The team also grapple with the shocking revelation that they wildly overestimated the value of a screen-used Ghostbusters trap on eBay with plenty of laughs and a healthy dose of collector-reality. Staying on the auction theme, they check out both a screen-used truck last seen being driven by Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters Afterlife, and a fan-built Ecto-1 currently up for grabs, discussing authenticity, value, and dream-garage fantasies.

To round off the episode, Jay drops expert-level collecting tips, sharing the best hidden corners of the internet for tracking down essential Ghostbusters merch, rare bargains, and last-minute Christmas gifts for fans of proton packs, ghosts, and all things spooky-fun.

Packed with Ghostbusters community spirit, collecting insights, and festive franchise energy, this episode is a must-listen for fans gearing up for the holidays, or just hunting for that next great piece of gear. And remember...

Pass the trap!

Fresh from Halloween 2025, join Dean, Jay, Theo and a not particularly chatty ghost for this latest episode of Fate, Luck & Karma: A Ghostbusters Fan Podcast. In just over 30 minutes, you'll hear the team talk about...

How we now know that Ray Stantz was researching ghosts at least five years before the Ghostbusters movie took place in 1984.

• What we think of the new Magnoli Props Spates Catalogue.
• Why the Los Angeles Ghostbusters are doing a great thing with a little help from Ghost Corps (spoiler: they're auctioning a screen-used Ghost Trap from Ghostbusters Afterlife).
• Whether or not their resident ghost has any words of wisdom for the team.
• How the Monster Mash helped propel a simple TikTok video about bat pizza in a supermarket to viral levels of sharing and interactions.
• Why we love a Ghost Trap glasses case made by an UK-based seller on Etsy (shouts out to Jon at RetroRelicLab).
• And, perhaps most importantly of all, how people pronounce the word "book" in Stoke.

All this, plus our latest attempts to get more words of wisdom from our resident spirit radio using ghost. Who, to manage expectations, doesn't say a lot in this episode. But in their defence, it is the post-Halloween season come-down, so we can cut 'em some slack.

So if you love Ghostbusters, the paranormal, movie collectables or simply enjoy hearing three geeky Brits talking about all of the above and more, listen to Fate, Luck & Karma: S02E27.

And did we mention there's listeners in 80 countries now? These little Ghostbusters have gone global, so join the worldwide sensation (if you use the term loosely) that everyone is talking about (again, not factually accurate) and give Fate, Luck & Karma a listen, a review, a comment and a subscription - you'll make the team happy on both sides of the etheric plane!

Five ghost stories. One haunted radio. Zero chill.

Spooky season is back - and so is the Paranormal Takeover. Dean, Jay, and Theo dive into five ghost stories sent in by listeners, but things take a strange (and hilarious / weirdly / oddly sensible) turn when they fire up the spirit radio app. Between eerie whispers, questionable coincidences, and a spectral PSA about hydration, the gang tries to decide what’s real, what’s random, and what’s just plain ridiculous. Can you hear anything that the team miss? Let us know!

We've got contributions from Alba Ghostbusters, the Welsh Ghostbusters, Cleaning Up The Town author Clare Bueno, the Texas Ghostbusters and one particularly creepy childhood story from the West Midlands Ghostbusters own Jay McDonald.

Expect laughter, light scares, and the kind of ghostly chaos only Fate, Luck & Karma can summon. Plus, if you've got a story that you want to share for a future Paranormal Takeover episode, reach out through any of our social channels. As always, we're ready to believe you!

So settle in, dim the lights, draw the curtains and get ready for real-world spooky stories and the electronic crackle of spirit radios: perfect as we speed towards Halloween. Fate, Luck & Karma: Season 2, Episode 26: the only Ghostbusters podcast with actual ghosts as guests!

Strap on your proton packs, because Dean, Jay and Theo are back with another wild ride through the world of Ghostbusters! This week kicks off with Spotify once again proving it has no clue what Theo is actually saying — and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. From there, the guys geek out over the record-breaking cash raised at Ghostbusters Day 2025 at Hook & Ladder 8 in New York, proving once again that bustin’ really does make us feel good.

Collectors, hold onto your wallets: the long-awaited HasLab Ecto-1 shipping notifications are dropping, and the hype is very, very real. Meanwhile, friend of the show Ivan delivers another one of his “unpopular opinions” that might just split the fandom right down the middle. Of course, the team can’t resist speculating about what Hasbro might unleash at the Pulse Showcase at New York Comic Con 2025 — spoilers: they’ve got wish lists longer than Slimer’s snack receipts.

And because spooky season is creeping closer, the guys want YOU to send in your best paranormal tales for the upcoming Paranormal Takeover episode. Ghost stories, weird noises in the attic, possessed ZX Spectrums — nothing’s too strange for this bunch.

If you’re into Ghostbusters news, Hasbro toy gossip, Ecto-1 excitement and plenty of spooky fan fun, this episode’s got more ectoplasm than Egon’s lab notes. So give Fate, Luck & Karma 30 minutes - and it'll give you the Ghostbusters world!

Join Dean, Jay and Theo for the latest episode of Fate, Luck & Karma: A Ghostbusters Fan Podcast. In this ep, the team acknowledge that the range of Ghostbusters figures they spent most of the previous episode complaining about have, in fact, been so successful, Hasbro need to do a second production run.

So... there's that.

Plus, we look at more unpopular Ghostbuster opinions - this time from the Wheat State Ghostbusters, Palmetto State Ghostbusters, Reel Ghostbusters, the Wrestling Ghostbuster and Sin City Ghostbusters, - celebrate the genius work of a prop builder who's made a gingerbread proton pack, and also shamelessly self promote the upcoming West Midlands Ghostbusters comic con appearances at Coventry and Worcester here in the UK.

All this, plus a question from Jay for US listeners over why no one says goodbye on the phone over there. Enquiring minds need to know...

Fate, Luck & Karma: Give us 30 minutes and we'll give you the Ghostbuster world!
