Fate, Luck & Karma: Geek Culture with a Side of Strange

Hot on the heels of their appearance on the BBC, Dean, Jay, Lee and Theo are back home, talking Ghostbusters news, what it's like to appear on an international broadcasting network like the BBC, and sharing some shoutouts to a few unsung heroes that they've met over the last few weeks.

Check out where the team think a 1984 prop of Slimer will land when it comes up for auction, why Jay would prefer a Stay Puft hat to everyone's favourite Onionhead, and why we want someone to rock up to a future convention dressed as Rockin' Roger.

All this, and much more, on your fifth episode of Season 2 of Fate, Luck & Karma - as heard on the BBC!

To the wider world, Ian Whyte is a Welsh pro basketball player, actor, and stuntman... but to fans of the Ghostbusters franchise, he's Garraka.

Join us as the team talk to Ian about his career, experiences on set, what it was like to walk into the Firehouse for the first time, and much more.

Hear whether or not Ian helped himself to any unofficial souvenirs from Frozen Empire, if he collects action figures of himself, plus what words of wisdom he'd share to aspiring actors hoping to break into movies or TV.

All this, plus Jay tries his luck in getting a freebie from Ian's private merch collection. Because of course he does.

So for the insider scoop on Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Star Wars, the Predator movies, Prometheus and - of course - Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, listen to Fate, Luck & Karma: Season 2 Episode 4.

Cos if you don't... Garraka will come and get you...

In a special on-location episode, we visit Mass Hysteria 2024, an event organised by the Portsmouth Ghostbusters over Ghostbuster Day Weekend.

The franchise hosted the event to raise money for Cancer Research UK, and attracted Ghostbusters from all over the country.  We sent Grant from the Sussex Ghostbusters to a very windy south coast venue to check it out - along with some help from his favourite sidekick...

If you'd like to help support the Portsmouth Ghostbusters in their cause, you can donate securely and direct to Cancer Research UK here: https://donate.cancerresearchuk.org/donate

Now let's hand the reigns over to Grant. I've heard bustin' makes him feel good...

In this special episode and Season Finale, join Dean, Lee, Jay and Theo as they review the newest Ghostbusters movie - Frozen Empire.

They discuss the story, cast, pacing and plot of the latest in the Ghostbusters franchise. How will they rate this 2024 instalment of the Spengler family saga? Well, you'll have to listen to find out but, as you'll probably expect, they're not all on the same page...

Against a backdrop of controversy around Rotten Tomatoes ratings, and extreme reactions both positively and negatively towards the movie, cut through the noise as our four UK Ghostbusters fans share their first impressions of the Ghostbusters Afterlife sequel (previously referred to as #AfterAfterlife), where the movie may lead us to next, and - of course - if there was any cake to be had. (Spoiler: There wasn't).

Speaking of spoilers, it goes without saying that in this Frozen Empire podcast review, there are spoilers a-plenty, so be sure to see the movie yourself before tuning in. You've been warned!

Then, if you've enjoyed the last 25 episodes - or even if you haven't - please consider leaving us a review wherever you listened to our podcast.  It'll really help us grow Fate, Luck & Karma and come back stronger than ever. Then, if the stars align and with a little bit of luck (and if everything really does happen for a reason, as Pete Venkman suggested) then we'll be back soon with a brand new season of Fate, Luck & Karma: A Ghostbusters Fan Podcast.

Thanks for listening!

After 25 episodes, and attracting listeners on all five continents across 55 countries, Season 1 of Fate, Luck & Karma is coming to an end.

But what a way to go.

We'll be giving our reactions, thoughts, and responses to our first viewing of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. It's been a long time coming - and we can't wait.

It goes without saying that spoilers will be numerous, so be sure to catch the movie before tuning into our Season Finale - coming soon.

In this, the penultimate episode of Fate, Luck & Karma: A Ghostbusters Fan Podcast, join Dean, Lee, Jay and Theo as they discuss what they hope to see and what they think they'll see in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

The team share the things that could make them leap out of their movie seats in excitement at that first screening, the moments that will truly make Frozen Empire memorable for them, and also some massively unreasonable and far-fetched hopes for subtle cameo appearances for the FLK and West Midlands Ghostbusters crew in the movie itself.

It's not going to happen, but Ghostbuster geeks can dream.

Plus, Theo sings (again), Lee busts out some frankly creepy voices (again), and 87% of the things Jay says end up on the cutting room floor (again). You gotta give the people what they want after all!

Enjoy the episode - and bring on Frozen Empire!
