FKOF Premiere!

@highly_minogue's Spinning Around is one of Melbourne community radio's most beloved shows, broadcast on @area3000. The outfit's pulled together a bunch of the show's friends from its first year to celebrate birthday #1 and raise money for some awesome causes.

Here's the premiere of @ekzander's contribution - the intriguingly titled 'Electronic Displacement Map. This and the rest of the 'Spinning Around 2021 Alumni VA Compilation' drops next week, 9th Dec. Hit the buy-link to pre-order!

"To celebrate the end of 2021 and Spinning Around's first year in action, Highly has invited a number of this year's guests to contribute to a new charity compilation. The compilation features new original productions from each artist, with all proceeds going directly to Australian Indigenous organisations - including Pay The Rent and the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service.

"Displacement mapping adds complex geometries on digital surfaces - in the same way, music adds complexity to our lives and transforms the environments we inhabit at many levels. 'Electron Displacement Map' explores emotional pads and atmospheric textures battling against driving breaks and booming bass to create a dreamscape suited to your typical 4am outdoor rave."

FKOF Promo!

We're delighted to welcome Rotterdam-based duo @platypus010 to the FatKidOnFire family. This one's been over 2yrs in the making and has been a real family project. Out to Olaf, Mandy and Ivar for bringing this whole vibe together!

FKxF/Platypus drops this Friday, 03/12/21, (pre-order live now) and is then available on all major streaming platforms two weeks after that, 17/12/21.

1. Platypus - Kikiriki

2. Platypus - Lost In Space

3. Platypus - Robert and Joseph

4. Platypus - Toni Dub

5. Platypus - Wolves In The Wall

Olaf had this to say about the release and how it came about:

'I first stumbled upon two beautiful people (and their creature) at a dubstep gathering in Utrecht, the Netherlands that featured our good friend (and dubstep ambassador) Joe Nice. Mandy and Ivar, two music-driven individuals, sometimes hide behind their Platypus (PLTPS) moniker. Even so, back in 2019 when we first met, Platypus were slowly started gaining momentum with their material through a number of labels, including with the Dubtribu gang.

'I've kept in touch with Mandy and Ivar since - after being captivated by 'Toni Dub' and 'Wolves in the Wall' that feature on their FKOF Records debut. We've worked together to showcase Platypus productions - and we're really proud of the final result. It contains a mix of various emotions, sometimes dark and sometimes light. Both Mandy and Ivar have outdone themselves with the 'Kikiriki' EP and I'm equally proud of the amazing video, recorded in an old glass factory in the Schiedam!

'Let's get freaky... Frikiriki. Kikiriki. <3'

Next up from uncle @ntype's @wheelanddealrecords sees the W&D debut of rising upstarts @tappamusic & @mythmofficial.

WHEELDEALY078 is out next Friday - 26/11/21 - and here's the full-length of the EP's title track, 'Crooks'. Hit the buy link to pre-order from our friends at Juno!

"We are pleased to welcome rising star MYTHM and TAPPA to Wheel & Deal Records with fire four track EP. The 'CROOKS' EP is a blend of different genre influences, heavily leaning towards distorted hip-hop. Every track drops hard with gritty bass and stepping beats that are built to destroy any dancefloor. MYTHM’S tracks have featured regularly on N-Type’s Rinse Fm Radio show and also had massive support from DJ’s such as Ternion Sound, Dalek One, Joe Nice, J Kenzo, Hatcha, Youngsta, DeepTempo, Distance and more."

Next up on Manchester's @leftrightandcentreuk imprint is a grooving EP from @henzotrax.

Here's the debut of 'Blister Pops', and you can bag this and the rest of the release directly from the label's Bandcamp. Just hit the buy link!

The 'Iron Lighter' EP is out next week - 23/11/21.

"Henzo, an artist of ever shifting momentum, has demonstrated his skills on this EP with ease and it is sure to get you grooving to a cold shouldered chug all autumn. ‘Iron Lighter’ features four sturdy constructed tracks criss-crossed with a heady mix of club influences, as well as encompassing a ferromagnetic remix by Mosca. This whole EP is comfortably sailing in Henzo’s signature style - dancehall indebted slow burners with a touch of distress and drama for good measure - and swagger."

The don @bukkhaspace picks up a spot with the @lodubsrecord familia, this time a vinyl release inna Rubadub stylo - and features Jane Bee (the Ragga Queen of Germany) toasting in unison with fellow Jahtari Alumnus Roger Robinson and Sarah Tobias,

We were happy to cherrypick his 'Inna Rubadub Version' off the shelve, containing serious bass pressure from top to bottom. A highly recommended play and record (check that insane design too!)...

'LODUBS-1221027', part of the limited series, will be available thru all physical & digital vendours on 12/11/2021 onwards. Hit the buy-link attached to support this wonderful vinyl release by Bukkha and of course LoDubs...

One of our favourite German rudebwoy's, one who doesn't need any introduction, returns to the Harbour City of Rotterdam's Dubstep imprint @nextleveldubs. We all love @bukezfinezt and so do you... You love his sound, especially when @yunis features on the release too!

Extraterrestrial FX fade in and out of 'WANDHYDRANT;, together with sharpened percussive hits, all swinging above a tough sediment of confident bass weight - all carefully engineered. The high quality sound engineering, use of samples and impact, make this a track for constant repeat and exposure. The 'Unsound Mind' EP is a madess on 12" vinyl!

'NXTLVL016' is set for release on 05/11/2021 thru all familiar digital vendours and of course through 12" vinyl, so hit the buy-link attached to support this soundsystem-ready release....

One of the most exciting talents to grace 140bpm right now, @11th_hour is back at it with a new Bandcamp Friday release.

Jason's outdone himself with the 'Momentum' EP - but it's all about track 1, 'Stratagem', if you ask us. Straight raw power material. One for those that know!

"Proud to present my last bandcamp EP of 2021! The 'Momentum' EP features 4 tracks from the vault - 'Stratagem', 'Momentum', 'Translucent' and 'Tempest'."

FKOF Promo!

February 2014 saw a relatively nascent FKOF Records celebrate its 5th month with 'FKOFd005' - an EP that's gone on to become one of our most popular (it's actually our most streamed release with ~500k plays). We've waited almost 8 years to work with either artist in the duo who built that release, but the wait's finally over.

'FKOFd053' is available from the FKOFd Bandcamp next Friday 05/11/21, and Beatport a week after that, 12/11/21. It will be available from all good electronic retailers a fortnight later, 26/11/21. Hit the buy link to pre-order the release from us!

1. Konessi - SOPHIA

2. Konessi - SHIVA

3. Konessi - KAMBO

4. Konessi - SUTRA

5. Konessi - UNION

''FKOFd053' is the return of Si Nanobyte to the FKOF family, under a new alias and with a new co-producer. Si and Ry are @Konessi-music, and this is their second outing with material under that name. The debut dropped with our friends at @Kokeshi last year, and if you've not checked the sumptuous 'Mr Shadow EP', please stop what you're doing and go do that first.

'This release also sees us do things a little differently. It's been a labour of love for all involved, and so we all wanted to suitably mark the occasion. This is the first five track EP we've done with FKOFd, it's not all at 140bpm and we've got a video for the EP's first track, 'SOPHIA'. You'll be able to read about the video and the incredible team behind it on the FKOF website soon. Oh, and this isn't the last material you'll hear from Konessi on FKOF Records. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

''SOPHIA' sets the tone of what to expect from the five tracks. Autumn sunlight through the forest canopy, 3am peak vibes with friends on the dance floor and that warm embrace of a good sub. 'SHIVA' steps things up a notch and is all stuttering samples, keys and vocals. Evocative stuff. 'KAMBO' is a bit more lowkey, but equally as emotional. It's as close as we get to a roller on the release with its percussive frameworks and meditative framing. Track four, 'SUTRA', is a good example of what to expect from a Konessi live show (yep, that's coming too) - crescendoing experiences that are as equally powerful on a sound system as they are enjoyed solo on an empty road. We close with 'UNION', smoky 'Untrue'-esque spaces that still gives us goosebumps 6mo after first listen.

'As you can probably tell, this release holds a unique place in the FKOF Records catalogue for us. It feels like the start of something with these two musicians, something the FKOF Records team are all pretty stoked on. We hope you see that something special too!'
