  • The Great Reset

The Great Reset & Canada's Fiscal Situation.

Many of you have asked me to do a show on this topic. It aired across Canada last week...here you go!

Show Intro: Money. You may have heard it said that it makes the world go round. You may also have heard that love of money is the root of all evil.

Whatever way you spin it, money is a powerful thing. One global organization that knows this full well is the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Established in the early 70’s by a man named Klaus Schwab, the WEF gathers global leaders in government and in business to network and innovate for the future. The Great Reset is the name of a book written by Klaus Schwab and one of his colleagues.

The description states: is a guide for those wanting to understand how COVID-19 disrupted our social and economic systems and what changes need to be made to create a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable world going forward.

The concept has created hope in some and concern in others who see it as likely radically deconstructionist both to economies and democracies.

Here with me on this show to discuss this all is Aaron Wudrick, the Federal Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. Aaron and his colleagues work tirelessly to watch the Canadian government’s use of our tax dollars and keep us all informed. Because of Canada’s involvement in the WEC, they have been watching this all closely. I know this is going to be an eye-opening conversation for many of us with possibly great implication for our collective future.

  • Coercive Diplomacy

As Canadians we have long prided ourselves in our compassionate heart to help the less vulnerable around the world.

This is reflected in the many charities and non-profit NGOs that have been started by Canadians to serve the poor and needy internationally. Traditionally, this heart has also been reflected in our federal government's foreign policy through international aid. In 2010 Prime Minister Stephen Harper, hosting the powerful G-10 summit in Muskoka, ON, called on international leaders to join Canada in contributing billions of dollars to funding maternal health overseas. The initiatives that came forward from this saved the lives of both women and children in many nations across the world.

When elected in 2015 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau repealed this funding and replaced it with what they called a new “Feminist Foreign Policy” which placed abortion at the forefront. Years later diplomats and activists are beginning to ask tough questions around whether or not Canada has actually been using money to essentially bully third world nations into adopting pro-choice practices that they do not agree with or want. At a time when our federal debt has been ballooning and there is such need right here in our long term care facilities, first nations reserves, among our vets and the like….every taxpayer dollar literally counts more than ever. It is right for Canadians to ask tough questions about where 650 million dollars of international funding has actually gone and whether it has actually helped.

Here with me today to discuss the issue are two very distinguished guests. David Mulroney spent 32 years in the Canadian foreign service. He was the Ambassador for Canada to the People’s Republic of China from 2009 to 2012. He joins me today along with internationally recognized author, filmmaker and human rights activist Obianuju Ekeocha.

  • Western Alienation & National Unity

It is no secret that many Western Canadians have been in the fight for their future and their lives over the last half a decade.

With wavering oil prices, challenge after challenge surrounding pipeline builds and now COVID-19, it has been blow upon blow for the western economy -- and surveys are reflecting the impact of the economic devastation.

In late 2019, a University of Calgary study revealed that that for every 1% increase in unemployment, there's was a 2.8% increase in the province's suicide rate - the survey outcome surprised mental health experts and, I point out, these stats were recorded before COVID-19.

Turning the corner into 2020, Alberta had lost 5.4% of its work force and suffered the second-highest amount of job losses in the nation between December 2019 & 2020 -- almost 133,000 jobs or a 5.7% increase in unemployment.

The impact has not only been felt in the province of Alberta however.

Agriculture workers across the prairie provinces who depend on employment in the resource sector to supplement their annual income and provide for their families have also been hit hard.

The people of the prairies are resilient and determined - they are survivors - but with the recent cancellation of the Keystone pipeline, some are asking: how much more can western Canada take?

Here with us this week have been Members of Parliament Glen Motz from Alberta and Rosemarie Falk from Saskatchewan. In this week's interview they shed some light on how the whole situation is impacting the residents that they serve, give insights and talk solutions.

This is more than an important conversation for our nation, it is a critical one. We need to find solutions.

Please join me for this important conversation.

  • Combatting Pornography In Canada

This week we are talking about the important topic of the impact of pornography on Canadians with one Member of Parliament who has taken up the fight against it, MP Arnold Viersen.

Thousands of lives, and relationships, across Canada have been profoundly negatively impacted by the drug called porn.

According the the advocacy group Fight the New Drug, studies have found that found that 93% of boys and 62% of girls had been exposed to pornography in their early adolescent years.

Some studies have also found that kids under the age of 10 now account for 22% of online porn consumption among the under 18 age.

Pornhub, a Canadian based pornography distribution site had 28.5 BILLION visits in 2017. That’s almost 1,000 visits a second, or 78.1 million a day—way more than the population of the entire UK. That number jumped to 33.5 billion site visits in 2018, and 42 billion site visits in 2019.

Almost 6 billion hours of porn were watched on the site in 2019 alone.

The devastating impacts of violently sexually explicit materials came into full view in recent years because of the good work of my guest this week.

Member of Parliament Arnold Viersen is here to talk with us about the important issue, the progress he is seeing in parliament on it and what we can all do to protect our children and loved ones.

Thank you for being with me for this important discussion.

  • Church Shut Downs & Caring In COVID-19

When COVID-19 hit in 2020 Leon Fontaine and his team at Springs Church in Winnipeg worked hard, and invested heavily, into switching to drive through services so people could still gather for service while keeping attendees safe. They also worked hard to keep up with and comply with provincial health standards as they changed often.

In late 2020 they were given more than $32,000 in fines for these drive through services. The case ended up in court.

On this show he shares his story, what happened and why he feels churches truly are an essential service in helping to save lives in COVID-19.

    Please share this inspiring story.

  • The Power of One Person Showing Up

This week's show is an inspirational one.

Sandra is what some people might call and 'average Canadian.' She was concerned about some of the things she was seeing happen in our nation but didn't know what she could do to make a difference.

In February of 2020 she watched our interview with Doug Sharpe and got connected with the National Leadership Briefing. That was the beginning of a new journey that is now having a great impact on Canada. On this week's show she shares some of her story!

We hope you will join us. Please share.

  • Assisted Suicide Expansion

Assisted suicide, otherwise known as Medical Assistance in Dying (M.A.I.D) was legalized in 2016. Since that time thousands of Canadians have had their lives ended through it.

The Liberal government promised a review of the legislation to ensure that vulnerable Canadians were being protected and that the law was working with this in mind. Due to a Quebec court ruling this review was never done. In spite of this, Federal Justice Minister David Lametti, has tabled legislation to expand the current assisted suicide laws to include those who death expectation is not in the foreseeable future and for the mentally vulnerable.

On this show we speak to Katherine Sorenson from Nova Scotia, a woman whose husband died by assisted suicide even though he may not have qualified. Also on this show is Alex Schadenberg from the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition who has been tracking this issue for over a decade and regularly receives calls from Canadians grappling with complexities around the issue.

The legislation is expected to be voted on in early 2021.
