76% of Canadians report experiencing a traumatic event in their life, 8% of those are expected to experience what is called PTSD. This equates to 2.3 million Canadians.

The number of antisemitic incidents in Canada set records for a 4th year in a row last year (2019).

Our guest this week has taken up the fight against both of these important issues.

Will Bouma is an elected representative of the Ontario Legislative Assembly who has already passed a bill regarding PTSD awareness and is now working on one regarding antisemitism.

Dr. Leslyn Lewis took the political world by storm when she rose in the CPC leadership race this past August capturing the popular vote on the 2nd round.

This week Dr. Lewis joined me to talk about her experience in running for the leaders of the Conservative Party, the main issues Canadians she spoke to are concerned about and where she is going from here.

COVID-19 has turned the world upside down for so many Canadians. Studies are now showing that 50% of Canadians said their mental health had worsened during the pandemic.

Health Canada stated that more than 13 million Canadians (34% of the population) were likely to experience high levels of stress because of the pandemic.

Studies have shown that suicide rates have risen from 2.9% to 6% as a result of the pandemic with Indigenous Canadians, parents with young children, those with mental illnesses or pre-existing health conditions being most affected.

This is why this show's conversation is so important.

Dr. Grant Mullen is a mental health consultant with over 25 years of experience helping Canadians stay healthy mentally. He joined Faytene in studio to talk about the impacts of COVID-19 on mental health and what we can do to stay strong should there be another wave of COVID-19 this fall.

Have you ever had an interest in adopting internationally? Kimberlee and Clark Moran from Abbotsford Canada did. After doing everything right with the paperwork in Canada, they travelled to Africa to pick up their new son only to be hit with hurdle after hurdle.

Kim joined me in studio last year to share her story and eventual victory. We hope this story of adoption will inspire hope but also open our eyes as a nation to where and how we can do better to help families like the Clark's.
