Today Amos receives three visions from God concerning the coming judgment. We also see how Amos responds to each of the judgments, in both intercessiona and non-intercession.

Today we see Amos critique the justice and righteousness of the ancient socities in which he lived. Likewise he critiques their pride as they take credit for that which belongs to God.

Today, Amos casts a woe and lament over the the capitals of Israel and Judah, though especially over Israel as a whole. Because the elites who are first in society reject their calling to obedience, they will be the first to be exiled.

Today, we see how Amos shows how the Israelites worship was worthless, and that they were called to be obedient to God by being fully faithful and seeking righteousness.

Amos warns of judgment, but also encourages those who would repent to turn from their unrighteousness, to seek God, justice, and goodness instead.

Today we see the futility of the worship and sacrifical system in ancient Israel, and how God rejected and judged them further for their false worship and sacrificial practices.

Amos condemns Israel and its capital city of Samaria, warning that neither their walls or wealth will bring them salvation from judgment.
