A look at James 5: 1-6, and its warnings about becoming rich. What is it about being or becoming rich that causes so many fall into sin?

We can so often give into the world's, and our own way of doing things, at the cost of our relationship with God. James 4 challenges us to choose to submit to God's ways, and resist the schemes of the enemy, pride, and the seductive pull of the world. However, we cannot do this on our own. We need the grace of God, and that only abounds in a posture of humility before him.

Words have been used to incite rebellion and create peace. They've toppled governments and rebuilt them again. In James 3, we are reminded that our words have the power to bring life and death - and that we are called to steward our words wisely for the Lord.

Most of us don't need more Bible study, instead we need more Bible living. This week we unpack James 1 & 2 and pay particular attention to the relationship between faith and works. Faith without good deeds is dead!

God gives us gifts, those gifts are to be used for His kingdom. How do we do that if we don't have the fruit of the Spirit? We can be the best teacher, prophet, and more; but without the gift of love, all of those gifts are just an annoying sound.
