[00:00:39] fearless, baby fearlessly fertile. Let’s do
[00:00:42] this. Welcome to the Fearlessly Fertile Podcast, episode 3 49 From no normal embryos with IVF. Two pregnant, naturally over 40. [00:01:00] Liz’s story loves. I’m so excited to be back with you this week, sharing another testimony of triumph from one of my miracle mamas who absolutely gave the finger to statistics.
[00:01:14] Stage and anything that people were telling her or she was telling herself about what was possible for her. Ooh. That just as thrills me to the core. I love it when women take a stand for what it is that they truly want on this journey. See it through, get the love, get the support, and really engage this piece of the fertility puzzle that takes women beyond the limits of fertility medicine.
[00:01:41] And that’s what my ladies are doing every freaking day. Now Liz, as you will hear, was sneaky littles and, and I called her that on the recording because. The thing is, not everyone tells me right away when they’re pregnant. Some women just go on to live their lives, which is absolutely amazing ’cause this isn’t [00:02:00] about me.
[00:02:00] It’s all about them. But whenever we share a story from one of my Miracle Mamas, you have to understand. What you see here is a tiny percentage of the successes that we have had through my programs. This is simply a celebration of another woman’s generosity. Willingness to share her story, to inspire you.
[00:02:23] There are women all over the world who are running around with fearlessly fertile miracles that you’ll never meet, and that’s why we’re so grateful to the women that choose to share their stories and, and you’re just gonna love Liz. We go back and forth about the things that truly made a difference for her on her journey and why at critical times when it came to making decisions and deciding in her forties what was next for her, despite the fact that she had no normal embryos.
[00:02:54] Miscarriage, multiple failed rounds of IVF that she made a [00:03:00] move that really put her on a trajectory to making her dream come true in a way she was convinced was not possible. So here is my conversation with the amazing Liz. Liz, I was just telling you before we started, the juror sneaky little minks, you just happen to drop in and say, oh, by the way, I had my baby.
[00:03:25] And I was like, what? So I am so excited that you’ve come onto the podcast to share this with the community and just let us delight in this incredible miracle for you. So why don’t you start off by sharing a little bit about how you found yourself on this journey.
[00:03:44] Yes, of course. I’m so excited to, to share this and tell, talk about it.
[00:03:49] Um, I think I’m gonna go back like maybe a little bit further than some people do. Um, back to my twenties, um, I was in a terrible relationship, [00:04:00] um, not, not healthy, and I sort of told myself, I think I knew subconsciously that that was not a good relationship to bring a child into. And I think that that was probably the right thing, but I twisted that in my brain to say, I don’t want kids.
[00:04:17] And it was just easier for me to tell myself, I don’t want kids, rather than kind of deal with the reality. So, so fast forward was with that person for 10 years, but was able to get a divorce and then was kind of on my own for a couple years and just like happy, just kind of being myself and doing my thing.
[00:04:34] Um, I was. Set up with my now husband again, not really looking for anything, but just mutual friends set us up and he was wonderful and amazing and it totally like blew my mind. I couldn’t process that, like I couldn’t. I was like, why does this guy like me? Why is he interested in me? I haven’t done anything for him.
[00:04:55] You know that, that whole like, I need to work and prove myself worthy. [00:05:00] Of this person. I hadn’t done that. He just liked me for me. And so again, like my brain couldn’t process that. So I, I kind of ghosted him after an initial dating period, which is like really immature and not like me at all. I’m usually like very direct and I can deal with anything and have any conversation, but, but I did that and.
[00:05:21] I get for whatever reason in that year, he like kept texting me. Like every couple weeks he would text me or call me and I’m like, no response, nothing. Just ghost. So, so for whatever reason, like a year later I just thought, you know what, I’m just gonna reply. And we went out. He met me and some other friends, um, just at this little restaurant bar in my neighborhood, and my friends were like, Liz, you have got to give this guy a chance.
[00:05:48] He is so crazy about you. And I was like, well, okay, I guess I’ll do it. And, and my husband is like, amazing. He has this amazing big family. And you know, I, I knew he would wanna have kids and I was [00:06:00] always kinda like, eh, you know, I just don’t know. It’s just, I’ve always said, that’s not for me. So anyway, we, we got engaged, got married in November of 22, and I got pregnant in December.
[00:06:14] Not trying, not thinking about it. Sort of again, thinking I wasn’t really sure if I even wanted kids, but the second that I saw that positive pregnancy test, I was like over the moon and like, oh my God, this is so wonderful. And sadly, that did end in a miscarriage a couple weeks later. So then I started going down the horrible like, you know, trail of Google and.
[00:06:41] At the time, I think I was 41. And so, you know, it was doomsday and it was like, you know, the window’s about to close. The only way that this will happen for someone, you know, my age with IVF. So I, I got on it, I did what I needed to do, got in with a fertility doctor [00:07:00] and, you know, started IVF. And again, was like so convinced that, you know, I was not enough and I needed this help for this to happen.
[00:07:10] So, so did IVF in the first round failed. I think we had like three embryos and none of them were normal. So that was really disappointing. Um, all of like my labs and all the. Everything along the way was really good. So I didn’t have, like, you know, I sort of felt like everything was, was right for me to be able to have a baby, but it just wasn’t happening.
[00:07:34] So, so did that first round. And then our, the fertility clinic here had to close for a month in the summer because they just had some maintenance on the lab they had to do. And in that month that they were closed, I got pregnant. Again, not trying, not even like, I wasn’t like tracking my cycle. I wasn’t doing anything ’cause I thought I have to have IVF so, so got pregnant and this is how crazy I [00:08:00] was at the time.
[00:08:00] Like when I saw that I got pregnant, my first thought was like, oh no, this isn’t gonna be good. I know, isn’t that crazy that you would say, oh no, you got pregnant. But I, I was so convinced that I couldn’t have a healthy pregnancy on my own. Yeah, that even when it happened, I was like, Ugh, no, this is just gonna end badly.
[00:08:18] I’m just gonna miscarry again. And sure enough, I did so, so jumped right back into IVF as soon as I could, and that round failed. Um, with that mindset. That’s not really that surprising. Um, so, so, but after that second round, I’ve been listening to you now for, you know. Almost a year at that point, and, you know, read the books and, um, did the program and listened to all the podcasts.
[00:08:47] I mean, binge, the podcast would listen. I mean, like every time I was in the car, that’s what I was listening to. Um, and so after that second round of IVF, I was just like, this just doesn’t feel right. Like, I [00:09:00] just want to take a break. I just kind of wanna live my life and, you know. Just take a breather.
[00:09:06] They may not even let me back into the fertility clinic once I’m 42, but you know, I’m just gonna take that risk. So that was like the end of October of 2022. And I was doing know, take a break, and one morning and late November, I was like, I have a weird feeling. I, I just, I don’t, there’s no way I’m pregnant.
[00:09:31] But I just have a weird feeling. And so I went and took a pregnancy test and sure enough, and this time I didn’t have that sense of doom. I didn’t have that sense of like, oh no, this is just gonna end badly. I was at peace, I was happy. I ran in and told my husband and you know, went, went to the doctor, did all the testing.
[00:09:55] Everything was normal, had the easiest, greatest pregnancy. I [00:10:00] have the sweetest, most beautiful, perfect child. I mean, it just, it was so wildly different so quickly for me, just again, like when I kind of let all the things you were saying, like sink in and just kind of believed in myself, it, I mean, in what felt like, you know, weeks it just happened.
[00:10:24] Wow. Okay. Alright, so we’re gonna unpack some of that, Liz, because that is like a whirlwind. No, but that’s so cool. I mean, and, and I love that we’re, we’re gonna go back and dig in there because you said some things that I know a lot of women listening to this are going to identify with and, you know, so let’s start with this sense of not worthiness.
[00:10:49] Right. Like what man? Like this man is so great. Like, what man would want me? Like, holy shit. Like did you, did you even [00:11:00] recognize that that was happening when you were experiencing it?
[00:11:03] No, not at all. At the time. And I still, I mean, honestly, even like when Matthew proposed, I was like, is he really proposing to me?
[00:11:11] Like I just, I, I didn’t, again, it didn’t process because. It wasn’t my whole like, mental model of like, I’m doing something for this person and, and proving my value. I was just being me and being in a relationship and that was enough for him. In.
[00:11:29] Wow. You know, I, I love that you highlighted this because everyone thinks that the process of trying to conceive is just when you’re trying to have a baby.
[00:11:38] Like it’s, I I love that you, you brought us back to that because this story that was lingering in your head for a long time, even about your yourself, how could you not have that show up on your journey? Like the way we do one thing is the way we do everything. So if you feel all fucked up about whether or not somebody could love you, how.
[00:11:58] Would that not translate [00:12:00] into questions about whether or not you wanna have a baby or whether you’re worthy of having a baby with ease? I mean, all the stuff that we end up struggling with on this journey. Yeah. So what woke you up to that?
[00:12:10] Well, I think all the questions that you ask of us, I actually sincerely asked of myself and, and you know, it has some uncomfortable.
[00:12:21] Thoughts and, and had to work through all that. But then on, you know, again, on the other side it’s like so much more peaceful and happy and just things kind of flow and work out. Um, once you’ve done that,
[00:12:32] so you allow this amazing man to love you and you get married, where do you think you picked up this idea that getting pregnant would be hard for you?
[00:12:43] I think it was that initial, you know, when I had that, that miscarriage. I, you know, I just, I think it’s like a lot of people, their, their, you know, next step is, well, let me understand this better. Like, what could I, well again, because I’m looking for, what did I do wrong? [00:13:00] Always. So let me go to Google and it’ll tell me what I did wrong or what I need to do, you know, what supplements do I need to take?
[00:13:07] What exercises do I need to be doing? What food do I need to be eating? You know, I thought I could work myself. Into having this healthy baby. You know? Wow. If I just get all the instructions, I will do it and I will follow it to a T. And I mean, just like every, I mean what you always say, everything else in life, we’re able to work hard enough and do the right thing and we kind of get what we want.
[00:13:28] And like, I mean, in my professional, like that is kind of how it’s gone, you know? And so I just took that same formula and applied it to this. It is not the same.
[00:13:40] No. Isn’t that funny, Liz? That like it? Isn’t it funny how it baffles us? Oh, the most feminine thing we’ll ever do in our lives. We simply can’t do like a man.
[00:13:51] We’re not just going to work it. Right? Like, and I love the humility and the humor with which you share that because. I don’t [00:14:00] care how much a woman thinks she understands this concept. Sometimes we have to hear it thousands of times in order for it to truly sink in. And you were just another example of that.
[00:14:11] So, okay, so you get pregnant, you have a miscarriage, you start Googling, and then the next thing is fertility clinic. Somebody help me?
[00:14:22] Yes. And I went there hoping that they would do IVF because again, I was so sure that like I couldn’t do this on my own. I just wanted to go straight to the answer.
[00:14:33] Straight to the, to the thing that was gonna get this accomplished. And you know, of course they were like, well, you know, you’re already 41. We probably would just wanna start you with IVF. And I was like, great. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. Let’s go. Let’s do it. And so that’s the path we went down.
[00:14:49] And you know, my husband, again, he’s so wise. At one point he was. Shouldn’t we kind of just try this like the natural way for a little while and
[00:14:59] [00:15:00] you’re like, no baby, I’m psychotic. I need to jump right inside. That’s
[00:15:03] exactly, I was like, no, no, no, no, no. That’s not gonna work. This is what we have to do. And of course, and you know, he’s like, okay, you know, he’s all in and like, you know, being supportive, but like his wise, you know, natural reaction was let’s just try, let’s just try this, you know.
[00:15:19] But, um. I’m grateful for him. He was supportive for that and, uh, we, we got to the, we got to the end result we wanted eventually. Right,
[00:15:29] right. Well, okay, so, so you do the IVF, were you shocked that it didn’t work?
[00:15:37] A little bit, yes, because again, all of my labs were so good. You know, like my, my whatever, ovarian reserve, all of my hormones.
[00:15:48] I mean, everything was like what it should be. Um, and even like one of the IVF doctors, she was like, really? You know, all of your numbers are are like a 30-year-old. And so I was [00:16:00] like, okay, well then good. You know, all indications are good. I’m doing the process that’s supposed to work. This is gonna work.
[00:16:08] And yeah, then we got the three, three embryos fertilized. But then when they did the testing, you know, they weren’t genetically normal. So, you know, failed that first round. And then that, like I said, it was almost the exact same thing. I think it was three embryos the second time, and none of them were normal.
[00:16:23] Isn’t that interesting that we run to medicine first, like without completely checking in? Like doing some of the things that like if we really loved and cared about ourselves, like just slow down a minute.
[00:16:40] Right? Right.
[00:16:41] Like give ourselves a little bit of time. I also think it’s fascinating that they still, despite the fact that your numbers were great figure because of your age and your age alone, we should do IVF.
[00:16:54] Exactly. Yeah. And I think, I mean, back to running to the doctors, I think it’s, if you’re coming [00:17:00] from kind of a, a foundation of I’m inadequate, then you, what else do you do? Yeah. You know, of course you’re gonna go look for some outside source because you’re not enough.
[00:17:12] Well, it’s interesting. I mean, I, I love that you shared that because I did the same thing, Liz.
[00:17:18] So no hate on that. Like, I mean, that’s exactly what I did. But I think what we’re bringing attention to is something critical that like, Hey, there’s a bunch of things you can do before that, right? Like, I did the same exact thing. I was like, oh shit, I wanna have this baby. Let’s, I’ve been trying for a minute.
[00:17:38] Let’s go immediately go into to IVF thinking that that was gonna be the answer. And it was devastating to me. When it wasn’t. And then, you know, obviously you and I both, you did a litany of things, but our babies had quite a different way of, uh, showing up one that we hadn’t quite anticipated. So before we get to that.
[00:17:59] I would [00:18:00] love for you to share how did an otherwise reasonable woman like you, Liz, find herself reading about the mindset piece of the fertility puzzle? Like what even had you look at this because from where you were at, you could have said, you know what, that sounds fricking woo woo. I’m not doing any of that.
[00:18:20] That’s crazy. And even though science backs it up, that sounds crazy. I’m not doing it.
[00:18:26] Yeah, and I’m not generally very woowoo, so this, you know, anything that was just not a tangible task that I could do. It was really just like I said before, like looking at myself and doing some hard work and answering some hard questions.
[00:18:43] Anything like that, um, is not my natural inclination. Um, but I think also I was so desperate and I was gonna try. Anything, everything, all of the above that, you know, it was kind of just like, throw it in the grocery [00:19:00] basket. Like, you know, I, I’ll give it a shot. I’m not, you know, and, and like, no shame in my game.
[00:19:05] Like, I will, I’ll do anything. I’m not scared, you know, to take on. Even if it makes me uncomfortable, I’m happy to do it if I think it’s gonna get me where I’m trying to go. So I think that’s why. And I think the other thing, you know, my husband is always like, you’re, you’re the most confident. Person, you’re so confident, you’re so good at your work.
[00:19:25] And I think like for a lot of folks probably listen to you. There’s like, there’s just kind of two sides of you. There’s your professional personality and that can be made me very confident. But like with this stuff, like it’s so different and it, and I was not confident and so I think I was just looking for something to like.
[00:19:43] Uh, just get, get my mind right and help me feel about this the way I feel kind of about everything else in my life and all the other decisions I make and, you know, the way I do things. Does that make sense?
[00:19:54] Yeah, no, it makes total sense. Was there something in you that said, I have to look at this [00:20:00] mind thing because I mean, I get that you were willing to do whatever.
[00:20:04] But y but as you said, like you’ll, you’ll try anything if you think it will work. What made you think this might work in helping you?
[00:20:14] Yeah, I think, um, well first, like you said, there is a lot of data and even if we don’t understand that data, you know, I’m, I’m in healthcare and so we are very data-driven.
[00:20:24] And, uh, if the data is pointing you very clearly in one direction, then you kinda have to, you have to listen. So there was that. But then also, you know, I felt like I kind of checked every other box. You know, I mean, I’ve done everything else. And so it’s like, well, you know, if you, if you’re gonna make all this other effort, then you’ve gotta at least explore this.
[00:20:45] And then once I started listening to the podcast, it was just like. Oh my gosh. Like this makes so much sense. You know? And it’s like, that is so me. And so then like once I kind of got into it, it wasn’t like it was easy. And again, I was like binge listening [00:21:00] the podcast, um. I love that. It was easy once I, once I gave it a shot, it was super, super easy.
[00:21:06] Okay. Well I love that. And, and so what do you think were some of the lessons that you took? Because you didn’t just stop at the podcast, you didn’t just stop at the book. We worked together. You came into the program. I think that was in, was it 20? Early 2023?
[00:21:25] Yes.
[00:21:26] Okay. So it was early 2023. What did you learn about yourself?
[00:21:30] What do you think were some of the biggest ahas for you through having done that work?
[00:21:35] Yeah, I think, um, I think it’s really just kind of those main mantras that you, you talk about all the time. I mean, just being worthy and you can ask for this, like it’s okay for you to want this for yourself. You know, it’s not just your purpose to be here and and live for other people.
[00:21:56] Like this is your life. You need to lead it for [00:22:00] yourself. And I think that was just, it sounds crazy, but it’s like I had never, never framed my own life that way.
[00:22:09] Wow. That’s big, isn’t it, Liz? Like, that’s huge.
[00:22:15] Yeah, Lord. Like thank goodness I wasn’t, I’m still not that person, like with a baby. You know, I mean, like, that would be the worst, worst thing to happen.
[00:22:29] Yeah.
[00:22:29] I, oh my gosh. I love that you just shared that because I say this all the time, like I, and it always makes me emotional when I, when I think about it, I’m like, I am so. Glad I became somebody different from my son because if I didn’t learn what I learned prior to him coming, I would just be repeating the same broken down patterns that got me to this place of despair, not enough, and, and allowing myself to just hand [00:23:00] my authority and my agency over my life to people in white coats that were telling me it was never gonna happen.
[00:23:07] Right.
[00:23:08] Yeah. Um. I just, I’m not really sure. Whenever I listened to the show, I thought, you know. There are so many of the similar, you know, storylines and similar takeaways and I was thinking like, what do I really have to add to this? And you know, I think I’m just adding the same thing. But I also think, like when I was listening, that was so comforting to me.
[00:23:31] Like to have the women, you know, saying the same things over and over again. It kind of just, I mean it not only reinforced it, but it just made me feel like, okay, like this is what works. This is where I need to be. Like this, this does make sense for me
[00:23:45] now. When you started applying what you were learning, did you notice anything changing in you?
[00:23:55] Um, gosh. I mean, that could be down to [00:24:00] such little things as like, I was so like lacking scarcity. I mean, you know, which can be good, right? I mean, I’m like, I’ve never been financially unstable a day in my life, but like. It can be so extreme that it’s, you know, not healthy. And so I think, like I just started letting myself enjoy things, be a little more spontaneous.
[00:24:22] You know, like, if, if you’re not enjoying it, then what the hell are you doing here? You know? Um, so I think that’s definitely one that I, I kinda just cut myself a little more slack and, and try to be a little more patient with myself. Um. And just enjoy things more. I don’t know how else to say it. Um, not everything is like a, a deadline and a, a goal to be accomplished.
[00:24:48] Sometimes it’s just. Enjoying a vacation with your family and just for that, the sake of just enjoying it, that’s all you have to do.
[00:24:57] Imagine that Liz. [00:25:00] No, not everything has to have some crazy goal attached to it. I think that’s brilliant. So did you notice whether or not your husband. Notice that things were changing in you because you two were so close and so committed to this family.
[00:25:17] Did, did he ever mention to you whether or not he noticed things changing in you?
[00:25:24] You know, I think he’s just so like, go with the flow and, and is going to be supportive, like kind of. Almost like he’s gonna let me maybe spin and do some things that I shouldn’t maybe do, and he’s just gonna be there kind of strong and steady no matter what.
[00:25:42] Um, I bet he was actually not surprised at all when I did get pregnant the way I did. You know what I mean? Like that was probably like, well, yeah, that’s exactly what I. Thought it was gonna happen.
[00:25:54] Wow. Did he think it was weird that you were meeting with this coven of women every [00:26:00] Saturday for eight weeks?
[00:26:01] Did did he ever comment on that?
[00:26:04] Um, you know, we usually, I feel like I was listening to it. Usually we have a hunting camp, which isn’t that the most like Alabama thing to say, but we have a hunting camp that we go to on the weekends, and so he would kind of go out and do his outdoorsy thing. I would, you know, do the group and I, so I think he’s just like, you know, whatever.
[00:26:21] You’re smart. If this is something that you think is good. Enjoy. I’m gonna go bush. I
[00:26:28] love it.
[00:26:28] You know
[00:26:28] I love him already and I love hunting camp. There’s nothing better than your man running off to hunting camp camp. That’s when the real cool stuff happens for us. We get quiet, we can study, we can read, we can do all kinds of stuff while they’re doing boy things, so.
[00:26:45] That’s right.
[00:26:46] That’s fantastic. Well, so, okay, so you do the program in 2023. You do. You do another IVF cycle after that. Oh, I
[00:26:56] mean, I finished, I finished the [00:27:00] last IVF cycle at the end of October, and we were still, like, I was still finishing modules.
[00:27:05] Mm-hmm.
[00:27:06] And I just decided I didn’t wanna do another round.
[00:27:09] I wanted to take a break, just didn’t feel right. And literally, I mean, with, in, I mean, within three weeks I knew I was pregnant. So within. Two weeks. I was, yeah.
[00:27:24] Okay, so we’re gonna break that down. Two things, but first of all, by this point you were, were you 41 or 42?
[00:27:35] 23, I guess I was 41. I was still 41. At the end of that year I was 42.
[00:27:42] Oh gosh. I’m gonna mess up my ears. I was 42 when I got pregnant. Yeah.
[00:27:47] Okay.
[00:27:47] Okay. It was in March. Yeah, I got pregnant in that Octo in October, November. Yeah.
[00:27:52] Okay. So at 42 people would’ve told you you were crazy to take a break. I [00:28:00] mean, like, they’re like, lady, come on, chop, chop. We got babies to have like who are you to take a break?
[00:28:05] But what I’m fascinated by is that you said it didn’t feel right to you. Continuing on that crazy train didn’t feel right. What made you listen to that?
[00:28:20] I think it was finally like hearing all the things that you were saying that like, listen to what your gut is telling you. Listen, don’t listen to anybody else.
[00:28:32] If, if your intuition is leading you somewhere else, then go with that. And I was like, you know what, yes, I’m able to do that. I can make that decision. If this doesn’t feel right for me, I don’t have to do it. And I know it’s so simple. It’s so, I know it sounds so silly.
[00:28:50] It’s actually simple, but it’s not easy.
[00:28:53] That’s the thing here, Liz, that I really wanted to like zero in on because you’re dropping these amazing bombs of [00:29:00] brilliance on us because it is simple, but it is not easy. And wait a second, Liz, the non woowoo person is talking about something like intuition, like what happened to you?
[00:29:14] I know, I, I honestly would not have even, I, I would’ve told you.
[00:29:19] That my being does not possess intuition. Like I don’t, that’s not something that is like in my soul, in my being. It’s just not who I am.
[00:29:29] And here you are talking crazy about your intuition telling you IVF wasn’t right. Wow. Okay. So you take a break and then what happened?
[00:29:45] I mean, within weeks I was pregnant.
[00:29:49] And, and again, the moment that I found out that time, I didn’t have that negative sinking doomsday feeling. I, I was [00:30:00] just that second at peace. I knew that we were gonna be okay. I knew that we were gonna have this baby. It was the wildest, wildest thing because again, I mean, a couple months before that, I mean, from July until November, you know, in July when I got pregnant, I was.
[00:30:17] I mean, just in the dumps, I mean, so upset that I had gotten pregnant because I knew I couldn’t have a healthy baby without IVF and you know, just knew that it was gonna have a bad outcome and then it did. But from July to November with your program, I totally, the, the switch flipped. I don’t know. And that pregnancy I just knew was gonna be fine.
[00:30:44] Wow. That’s a massive quantum leap from this intense struggle. And two miscarriages at that point, right?
[00:30:56] Two miscarriages to failed. I vfs, sort of [00:31:00] alternating.
[00:31:00] Wow. And then pregnant naturally,
[00:31:05] naturally.
[00:31:08] Wow. And then you were able to do that confidently because when you were pregnant naturally, and what you’re talking about is that you didn’t feel the doom and the gloom.
[00:31:19] No, I, I, there’s no other word. I just peace. I just was so peaceful and so happy, and I just, I mean, I didn’t have a worry, you know, my doctor was like, well, we’ll probably do a few more ultrasounds on you than you know, we normally would. Everything looks great and I mean, I wasn’t stressed ever in that pregnancy.
[00:31:41] I know. And I mean, it was just, it was so perfect. And it was just amazing.
[00:31:49] So you get pregnant and you had a
[00:31:54] baby girl.
[00:31:58] Oh my gosh, Liz. I mean, [00:32:00] what was it like to hold her for the first time?
[00:32:04] Oh my gosh. She is just a nugget of joy and love and I cannot tell you every day we love her more and more. She is amazing.
[00:32:16] Betty is her name. It’s Elizabeth Claire, but we call her Betty after Matthew’s grandmother.
[00:32:22] Oh my gosh. Baby Betty. Oh my gosh. And baby Betty is 14 months now.
[00:32:28] That’s right.
[00:32:31] Oh my goodness. I, this story just thrills me, Liz, that it, I mean, it’s such a story of triumphant, a story of. The payoff of trusting yourself and, and moving beyond the panic and the worry and the antiquated story.
[00:32:51] Now that having a baby in your forties is a scary thing, that you’re too old, that it’s probably not gonna work. I mean, [00:33:00] think about it. Think about this. In the system of IVF, you had multiple embryos that were abnormal. Right? Mm-hmm. Through two rounds of IVF abnormal embryos. There are some women out there that are listening to this that have had a similar experience and are sitting in despair thinking that if under the, the system of IVF, all you can produce is an abnormal embryo, that there’s no fricking hope for you to get pregnant naturally, much less have a, a healthy baby.
[00:33:37] I know. I know, and I mean, looking back and, you know, we’ll never know, but I just feel like that I, I had put so much pressure on myself and I was so negative and stressing out my body, and it just was so, like, such the wrong, there was no way that those embryos could be healthy because [00:34:00] everything, everything that I was putting them through was negative.
[00:34:04] Wow. I mean, that’s some awareness, Liz, because I bet you wouldn’t have been able to say that years ago. Like you’re actually living proof and a living scenario case study of how, okay, you get all this negative crap, you, you run around with a negative story, you create a negative result. Now that’s not blame, it’s just saying, should this at all be surprised?
[00:34:31] Not at all. No, but I think it’s also like, I just feel like so much happened in such a short time. I mean, I went from not thinking I wanted to even have kids to miscarriage IVF miscarriage, IVF pregnant with a baby in like, you know, a year and a half basically. And so, I mean, I think it’s just like how much and how quickly you can change when you kind of get.
[00:34:59] In the right [00:35:00] mindset when you do the program, when you are listening to things that really make sense to you and, and you kind of buy in wholeheartedly. Um, just so much can happen in a, in a very, very short span of time.
[00:35:13] Boom, boom. I, I couldn’t have said it better. Like, I mean, this is the kind of transformation in my work that I see women do on the regular.
[00:35:23] And sometimes it knocks their socks off because they’re like, wait a second. How did I go from years of struggle to this? Like, how is that even possible? But you have to be open, you have to be willing to take chances, Liz. And that’s exactly what you did. And, and, and I commend you and, and all of the women that do this because it takes courage to change.
[00:35:45] It takes courage to be willing to say, Hey, you know what? I might need to look at me. Because I’m not gonna let myself, I’m not gonna let me be the block.
[00:35:56] Right. Well, I remember when I read the title of your [00:36:00] book the first time, I was like, oh, well, rude. Like, I mean, I mean, you really put it that way, but at the same time I was like, I think I know what she’s saying.
[00:36:13] Like I, I, I hadn’t even read yet, but I knew what you were saying. And, and it’s not rude at all. Um, when, when you take it for the, for the, with the intent that it is given and you can kind of own that and, and change, um, yeah.
[00:36:33] I love that list. I mean, like, I, I remember, I mean, it was so cl crystal clear in my head when I came up with a title and really owned that.
[00:36:41] Like I knew that people were gonna get pissed off, but just as you’re saying, I knew my intentions were clean. I’m like, I have to speak to them in a way that they can hear me that is not like the other noise that is going on in their head. Mm-hmm. And, and that was the whole impetus behind. The book, [00:37:00] why I do what I do on a daily basis because I didn’t have somebody to reach in and grab me by the shirt and shake me and say, you are influencing this.
[00:37:09] Yeah. And if you don’t get your shit together, girl, you’re gonna find yourself old, alone, childless, and miserable because you didn’t take the time to look at the one thing that was off. ’cause like you, Liz, we have this in common, like. I would take any supplement, I would do any yoga pose, I would do any of that.
[00:37:29] But the thing that really blew it wide open for me was looking at me. Mm-hmm. Sounds like the same was true for you?
[00:37:36] Absolutely.
[00:37:38] Wow. Okay, so with that said, I mean, you remember listening to this podcast. You binged it. Like, what are some of the things, other than what you’ve said here, or maybe said in another way, what would you wanna share with the women listening when you were listening and binging?
[00:37:57] What did you so desperately wanna hear [00:38:00] from somebody to help you on this journey?
[00:38:05] Um, I think it’s really just getting comfortable enough with yourself, with who you are, with who you are right now, today, without any outside support or medicines or interventions coming in to try to make you something that you’re not.
[00:38:26] You are enough. And if you want a baby, you can have a baby and you’ll have a baby. Um. But you can’t come at it from a, a, um, mindset of control and work and tasks, and it’s, it’s just not that. And. We’ve said a million times. I mean, we’re all very comfortable with that. I mean, if you gimme a to-do list, I can, I will knock it out and get it done faster and better than anybody else.
[00:38:59] [00:39:00] But this is, this is just not that. And so you really have to kind of take some deep breaths and just, um, sit back and enjoy the process if you can. Um. Enjoy. You know, like with the program, enjoy going through those modules and asking yourself some of those questions and, and learning more about yourself.
[00:39:20] I mean, just enjoy that and know that it will make you a better mom when you get there.
[00:39:26] Yeah, that’s so wise, Liz. It, it doesn’t sound to me like there’s only one wise person in your home. I think you and your husband are, have been through something that has developed both of you, and I’m so happy to see you this happy, and I’m so happy that when.
[00:39:43] We’re done. You’re gonna go hold Betty, you’re gonna go cuddle her. And it, it’s just, it’s such a delight. This is why I love doing what I do in the world because I get to see women not only be united with their [00:40:00] children, but rediscover themselves. Because now, like, think about what you and Betty are gonna do together.
[00:40:06] I mean, think about what you’re gonna teach Betty.
[00:40:09] I know. Um. To be her own person and to live her life for herself. And I’m just so excited. I can’t wait. I cannot wait to see what she’s into.
[00:40:21] Oh my goodness. And that’s the thing is like we get so tunnel visioned on just having this baby that a. We spend very little time thinking about the mom that we wanna be when they are here, and I am so just delighted and honored that you trusted me to be part of your journey.
[00:40:40] And now you are going to pass these lessons onto your daughter. Well done, baby.
[00:40:46] No, thank you so much. I really, I really don’t think I would’ve made it without you in the program. I, I wish I could say that I would have, but I just don’t think I would’ve ever gotten there because. I just didn’t [00:41:00] have a different, a different formula to follow and, um, to thank you.
[00:41:05] Oh geez, Liz. It, it is truly my honor and. I hope that you never forget how powerful you are, woman that is, it’s amazing. I mean, you did the seemingly impossible. Now you can go do a bunch of crazy things like you, you like. You can just go out there and say, I had my baby. Everything else is a piece of cake.
[00:41:26] Liz.
[00:41:26] Yeah, it’s true.
[00:41:27] Oh wow. Well congratulations mama. We’re sending you so much love. Thank you for so generously and courageously sharing your story here and go hug Betty for me. Go hug that hunting man for me and I will be so glad to hear more about what you have coming next. So thanks you woman.
[00:41:48] Thank you
[00:41:49] loves.
[00:41:49] Didn’t you just love my conversation with Liz? Isn’t she inspiring and isn’t her nickname for her baby girl Betty? Just, Ooh, you just wanna cuddle them. It is [00:42:00] just, man, I really hope that you take from this conversation, the fact and the inspiration that you never know what you have locked. Up inside of you.
[00:42:12] And sometimes we get so caught up in the old story, the old story of limitation, the old story about age, the old story about what’s possible for us, that we completely overlook the solution that is right under our noses. Liz, she, she’s a creator in her life. She decided to trust her intuition. She made her dream a reality by really leaning in to what she knew to be true.
[00:42:43] She knew she was meant to be a mom, and her gut was telling her that IVF wasn’t for her. Can you imagine if she just kept. Plowing forward with IVF when she knew it wasn’t right for her. By trusting herself, she created an entirely different trajectory [00:43:00] on her fertility journey, and she is hugging her baby Betty today because of the courage she was able to summon and the willingness that she had.
[00:43:09] To change and be better. So if you want me to teach you what I taught Liz, go to my website www.frommaybetwobaby.com and apply for an interview there. My methodology is help women around the world make their mom dreams come true and the results speak for themselves. Baby. If you are not leveraging the power of mindset, you are out of your freaking mind, girl, and I love you enough to tell you.
[00:43:37] When the mind and body work together, you make the seemingly impossible possible. And why wouldn’t you want to make your treatments more effective? Give yourself a better chance of conceiving naturally if that’s what’s on your heart when you’re using a surrogate, when you’re using a donor egg. Why would you not have your head in the game?
[00:43:55] I don’t know. You’d be crazy not to. So go to my website [00:44:00] www.frommaybetobaby.com and apply for an interview there. Till next time, change your mindset. Change your results.
