This episode is all about LOVE.
How do we learn to love others and those that we choose, those that are put in our paths (or next door cubicles). Next we need to love ourselves in a healthy way. And loving what we do- we spend many hours at a job- we should love it.
Imagine if you put heart stamps on others heart with yoru words and interactions for them to collect on their heart passport- not only are you filling others -but you also collect heart stamps. Can you imagine how amazing a day would be on giving away heart stamps?
L- Be the light.
O- open up your mind and heart.
V-voice- use yours for good and the words you say matters.
E-enthusiam for the one who created you and for the ones entrusted to you and for those who are sent to crosss your path.
What the world need now is love sweet love, not just for you, but for everyone (thanks Dionne Warwick). Thank you for listening
In our episode of Reset at Feather & Foundation- we discuss that goals, dreams and plans from the new year might already been not started, started and stopped. Reset allows the opportunity to do exactly that- reset...our goals (if need be), our plans, our minds, or attitude and acitivity. There's power and energy in a reset. Like children playing a childhood game ---"do over". Just as important in reset is the reset of your mind, body and soul in allowing time to relax, rest and recharge. Join in to hear the discussion.
Our WOW word in this podcast is comparison. While it is human nature (animals just stay in their lane, doing their thing)- at times it can be beneficial in helping to motivate us, grow ourselves in becoming our best selves. Most of the time, we let comparison affect our mind and mental health. We look at social media and see all the great things that can trigger the "not enoughness" and comparison in our lives. Learn some tips on how to manage comparison. We'll discover how there is more than enough for each person to step into their gifs, talents, brilliance and genius and share with the world. Join us here at Feather & Foundation for a great chat on comparison.
In this episode our WOW word of prosperity gives us lots of discussion and thoughts... This word was floating around at the end of last year and as we moved into a new year. I found myself wishing others a healthy & prosperous new year. Two weeks ago, at church my Pastor shared his message on prosperity! If you are new around here- you will quickly find out I'm big on "matches" in the word I'll take you on a true story (rabbit hole) about matches and how they manifest in your life and day- when we are open to asking, being aware....it is a beautiful God wink/love note. Enjoy the story on matches. Is Prosperity only on wealth, status, things, what we have? Or could it be based on qualities instead- joy, contentment, gratitude, kindness, or caring. I'll share some points from my Pastor's sermon on Prosperity- shout out to Pastor Josh at Leesburg Community Church (www.leesburgcc.org- from Jan 14 sermon)- as well as my thoughts on those as well. Join me as we dig deeper on Prosperity- how we can live simple and give more.
We take a look back at celebrating the victories of last year, and learning from the lessions- so we can put the year to rest. We aren't going to drag old stories, and emotional baggage into this brand new year of unlimited possibilities. Looking back on the holidays- who thought it was a good idea to do all the things (festive parties, fa-la-la) with all the people, plus add the kids holiday programs, and then let's make some new traditions while honoring and keeping the old, and let's run around shopping or online for gifts for those we love and let's decorate the house and make cookies- and let's do that all in 1 month! Is it any wonder why we start the year tired & exhausted? Gentleness kept bubbling up as a Wow word and I thought - no it should be a stronger, more powerful word to start the year. Then it really got me.....in all the noise and demands of new goal, being a new or better person (all good things) but coming off a busy holiday season- I craved being gentle with myself and my expectations- giving space, rest, recovery where it was needed. Join in our second year of Feather & Foundation as we kick off with the very unassuming but powerful WOW word- gentleness.
Happy One Year Anniversary to Feather & Foundation! Hear how a dream in my heart that was placed years ago by God, came to fruition by a series of events to the birth of Feather & Foundation. We also celebrate a brand new year. Before looking forward, we look back over the past year to celebrate the victories, and learn from the lessons that make us better- not bitter. As we move into the new year- what is the ONE WORD that is your guiding light or north star for the year? There is power in having that ONE WORD- it's a center, a focus or intentionality as we live our daily lives. It's amazing to see how the world manifests your ONE WORD. Sometimes you claim your ONE WORD, and other times it claims you. Let's kick off year 2 with our One Word. Thank you for liking, sharing and commenting.
What if we woke up each day and went about our day in thankfulness? Our focus on shifting from complaining to gratitude can change everything...lower stress and anxiety and increase more feel good endorphins because of focusing on being thankful and grateful. What we focus on grows. In all circumstances we can find things to be thankful for- even in the hard and storms of our lives. In the book The Hiding Place- by Corrie ten Bloom- hear her account along with her sister, Betsy being held in a concentration camp.....we cannot even begin to imagine what they must have experienced...in the squalor of the situation and the unthinkable they have to deal with lice and fleas. Betsy reminds her sister to be thankful in all circumstances.....check out the podcast to hear the rest of this true story of being grateful. Who can you thank today? What opportunities can you display thankfulness and gratitude? Being thankful, you find you are too blessed to be stressed.
Our wow word for this podcast is bravery and we are joined by a special guest, my daughter Brianne. I chose this word for Brianne as you hear her story of being brave throughout her life (accidents, injuries, medical issues and walking through secondary infertility). You'll hear great tips of not what to say to people about having children and how to be supportive as they walk through the financial, emotional journey of infertility. Plus Brianne is a school teacher, so you know that's brave!!! We'll talk about how being brave might only require 8 seconds of courage- and in spite of fear- we can choose to be brave. We often think of being brave as Mel Gibson in Braveheart- however- many times a brave person- speaks out, stands up, or quietly handles the challenging or difficult. We also honor our Veterans who embody bravery n serving their country and around the world. Thank you Veteran's. How can you be brave in areas of your life? Brave in trying something new? Brave in a discussion? Brave in your relationships? Brave in being brave?
While our WOW words are typically character traits, or qualities- this week we deviate on our WOW word - Reunions. After having two difference reunions (girl's trip & class reunion) in a week, I couldn't resist chatting about reunions. Spending time with people who have shared part of your life story is good for your wellbeing, mental health and longevity. Of course, these are people who bring value to your life- not stress your nervous system. The laughter, the fun, the joy- so many endorphins are engaged when we spend time with people who bring light to our souls. I find it fascinating at class reunions on the dichotomy- you have a person who you shared a very pivotal time or season in your life that draws you together in memories and stories, and you also have a person before you that there is a gap of time, and who they have become in those years- that you don't really know. Crazy, right?
We'll cover who you should include in your tribe or friendship zone (and who to avoid- run, Forest run!) We'll tackle if reunions are so good for our wellbeing, what are the triggers that may make us avoid them?
Special shout out to the fabulous girl's trip six chicks, and to my amazing classmates- Central Columbia Blue Jays- class of 1983- this is dedicated to you!
What reunion can you set up and plan so you can get your cup filled. Instead of live like we are dying, we should be dying to live! Check out reunion podcast @featherandfoundation. Share the likes, comments and with others.
Our wow word is Change and we mostly greet this with resistance and being uncomfortable. Why? You'll learn what our brain does when we introduce something new/change our habit. You'll understand why it takes 21 days to create a habit. We'll talk about tips on how to navigate change and how to have tools to support it. We'll give ourselves grace when we are learning something new in creating a new habit. We'll grab onto adaptability in dealing with change. When we get on the other side of change- we have grown and learn so much about ourselves. So check out this episode on Change!
