In this minisode we’ll be discussing the multiple Oscar nominated film, Manchester by the Sea. This is a film that deals with grief as realistically as any we’ve ever seen and unpacking its layers of emotion was both exciting and, like watching the movie, a little bit rough. It is also a masterwork in filmmaking and deserving of its recognition as one of the best films of 2016. This is one emotional discussion that really gets us "feelin film".

This week we are discussing Michael Mann’s collaboration with Daniel Day Lewis, the frontier epic, The Last of the Mohicans. This film was chosen by our listeners via a voting process that was conducted using all of the movies recommended with our #feelthisfilm hashtag. With a strong theme throughout of duty to family vs. duty to society, this movie gives us a big question to wrestle with while we sit back and enjoy its gorgeous cinematography and emotionally powerful score. Plus, Daniel Day Lewis, and we love talking about Daniel Day Lewis. Enjoy!

We are extremely happy to be talking about the latest cinematic adventure of The Dark Knight this week, in all its blocky glory. Batman is a beloved character and his treatment by the LEGO team in this film was handled with expert care. This movie didn't just give us the expected laughs, but packed an emotional punch with several very teachable lessons. It also shined in its use of self-referential humor and made for one of the most joyful theater experiences we've had. Our conversation this week is a fun one. Why should you listen? Because we're Batman!

Here in Episode 44, we are wrapping up our five-week journey of #NolanMonth by discussing his most recent film, Interstellar, with special guest and friend of the show Andrew Dyce of Screenrant. We’ve had a fantastic time talking our way through Christopher Nolan’s films so it is fitting that we have someone joining us who is both a huge fan of this film and exceptional writer. Interstellar is a moving science fiction adventure and drama with plenty of big ideas and scientific concepts for us to discuss.

Silence is a complicated film. Based on the 1966 novel of the same name by Shusaku Endo, it tells the story of two Jesuit priests who travel to Japan to learn the fate of their mentor and spread the gospel of Christianity throughout the country. It is an honest look into faith, doubt, persecution, and the mystery of God. In this conversation we attempt to understand our feelings about its characters and the decisions they make.

It's week four of #NolanMonth and revisiting many of Christopher Nolan's great films has been a joy, but this one hit us harder than we remembered. There are enough layers here to fill many notebooks and we have a great time working our way through this expertly woven masterpiece. So spin your tops, look away, and stay for awhile as we plunge ourselves deep into the dream-like world of Inception.

This week we get to talk about what is arguably the greatest comic book film of all-time, The Dark Knight. This incredible movie gives us a wealth of topics to discuss - from the acting to the cinematography to the characters to the tough moral predicaments we find them wrestling with. It's a fun and thoughtful conversation. We may not be the podcast you deserve, but we’ll try to be the podcast you need right now.

In this minisode we cover a film that deals with some incredibly tough themes such as grieving and the need for empathy. The story of A Monster Calls is close to both of our hearts and we hope to talk our way through some of the incredibly strong feelings it provokes. We had been excited about this one for a long time and were not disappointed.

We have this condition, you see... It's week two of #NolanMonth and in this episode we do our best to remember what we thought of Christopher Nolan's feature film debut, Memento. There is so much to unpack from this marvelous film. Whether it be the unique narrative structure, questions of memory as identity, or the idea of living a lie, we try our best to talk through why we find this film so compelling even after many repeat viewings.
