As we continue the Follow Me series this Sunday, we shift our focus from connection to going as we dig into Christ’s mission to seek and save the lost. We discover how Jesus answered our objections and fears by engaging with the lost in shocking ways.

This Sunday we start part two of the Follow Me series. Romans 12:2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. One of the most important aspects of becoming like Jesus is to think like Jesus. We must grow in our knowledge of Christ and the Christ-like life. That is what the Grow part of the series is all about.

A disciple of the Lord worships the Lord, but not just on Sunday mornings. His or her worship is woven into every day. A disciple's love for the Lord drives the way they live. Today we'll look at two facets of the life of worship.

A second aspect of worship has to do with prayer. Prayer is worship. All the worship activity in the temple was summed up by Jesus when he called it a “House of prayer.” (Mt 21:13) When we pray, we demonstrate our faith in God and affirm His attributes. We could say, “Omnipotent God we praise you.” Certainly that is worship. When we pray we are saying that He needs no one, while we are wholly dependent on Him.

We need to be disciples who pray. If for no other reason, because Jesus prayed. One who follows Christ ought to pray as He prayed.

If we were to view Jesus’ prayer life through the eyes of a disciple, we would learn much about prayer.

In this series we want to understand what it means to follow Jesus by following His example - to live out the intenton of becoming more like Jesus. The first broad area that involves has to do with worship. A disciple worships.

As Christians we are to be followers of Jesus. But what does that mean? What was Jesus like? What did he value? How did he think? How did he relate to others? What did he do? This series explores those questions by looking at the life of Jesus in the Gospels. We start the series by studying one of the key passages that calls us to discipleship.
