In Colossians 3:1–17 (ESV), Paul gives a simple, life-changing command: look up. If you’ve been raised with Christ, seek the things above and set your mind on Jesus—because we don’t defeat sin by trying harder or staring at the problem. We defeat sin by running to Christ.
In this message, we walk verse-by-verse through what it means to put to death what is earthly in us (sexual immorality, impurity, evil desire, covetousness/idolatry, anger, slander, obscene talk, and lying) and to put off the old self and put on the new. We also talk about the difference between biblical conviction vs. legalism, the seriousness of sin and God’s coming wrath, and how real change happens when Jesus fills our vision.
Paul then shows us what to “put on” as God’s people: compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, forgiveness, and love—so the peace of Christ rules our hearts, the word of Christ dwells in us richly, and whatever we do we do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Big Idea: Don’t stare at the problem—look to Jesus.
