What does God really care about—your money or your heart?
In this verse-by-verse study of Acts 4:32–5:11, Pastor Nick Wyss explores one of the most sobering passages in the New Testament: the account of Ananias and Sapphira. While this story involves money, possessions, and giving, the real issue is much deeper. The problem was never the amount they gave—it was the condition of their hearts.
The early church was united in “one heart and one soul,” marked by generosity, sacrifice, and devotion to Jesus. In contrast, Ananias and Sapphira allowed pride, deception, and a desire for appearances to take root in their hearts. Their story serves as a powerful warning that God sees beyond outward actions and looks directly at the heart.
In this message, you’ll discover:
• Why Acts 5 is not primarily about money
• The contrast between Barnabas and Ananias & Sapphira
• What true biblical generosity looks like
• Why God cares more about your heart than your possessions
• The danger of hypocrisy and spiritual deception
• How money often reveals what we truly treasure
• What it means to have a heart fully surrendered to God
• Why the early church experienced great power and great grace
Whether you’re struggling with trust, generosity, pride, or simply want to grow deeper in your walk with Christ, this message will challenge you to examine the condition of your heart before the Lord.

What do you do when following Jesus brings opposition instead of comfort?
In Acts 4, Peter and John find themselves arrested, threatened, and pressured to stop preaching about Jesus. After witnessing a miraculous healing and boldly proclaiming the gospel, they stand before the same religious leaders who had condemned Jesus. Faced with intimidation and persecution, they are forced to answer a critical question: Will they fear man or fear God?
In this verse-by-verse study of Acts 4:1–31, Pastor Nick explores how opposition often follows obedience, why the fear of man can keep believers silent, and how the Holy Spirit empowers ordinary people to live with extraordinary courage. Rather than praying for an easier life, the early church prayed for greater boldness—and God answered.
If you’ve ever struggled to speak about your faith, worried about what others might think, or faced challenges because of your commitment to Jesus, this message will encourage and challenge you to stand firm in the truth of the gospel.

In Acts 3, Peter and John encounter a man who had been lame from birth, and in the name of Jesus, his life is completely changed. But the miracle was not the end of the story—it was the doorway to the message.
In this sermon, Pastor Nick teaches through Acts 3 and shows how God uses miracles, blessings, and even unexpected moments to get our attention and point us back to Jesus. The healing of the lame man leads to Peter preaching the gospel, calling the people to repent, turn back, and receive the forgiveness and refreshment that only comes from the presence of the Lord.
If you are feeling tired, burned out, distant from God, or in need of renewal, this message is a reminder that true refreshment begins with repentance and is found in Jesus alone.
This week at Fervent Church, we continue our verse-by-verse study through Acts and ask an important question: What is the church? For many people, church has become a building, a service, or just another event added to a busy schedule. But Scripture paints a much bigger picture.
In Acts 2, we see the first snapshot of the early church—a people filled with the Holy Spirit and devoted to Jesus and one another. They devoted themselves to God’s Word, fellowship, prayer, generosity, and authentic community. They weren’t perfect people, but they were committed people.
In this message, we look at why church is not simply something we attend but something we belong to. We’ll also see how Jesus Himself modeled true devotion by giving His life for His bride.
If you’ve ever been hurt by church, felt disconnected, or wondered whether church really matters anymore, this message is for you.
Key Topics:
• What the church actually is
• Why church is more than a building or event
• The importance of biblical community
• Devotion in a culture of convenience
• Why we need one another
• Jesus’ devotion to His people
Listen now and discover what God intended the church to be.

In this fifth message from our Unstoppable series through the book of Acts, Pastor Nick walks through Acts 2:14-41 — the first sermon ever preached after the Holy Spirit was poured out at Pentecost. Peter, an ordinary, untrained fisherman who had recently denied Jesus three times, stands up filled with the Holy Spirit and proclaims the gospel to a crowd of thousands. The result? 3,000 souls saved and baptized in a single day.
You'll discover why Peter keeps repeating the phrase "this Jesus" — Jesus of Nazareth, the one crucified by lawless hands, raised by God, and exalted as both Lord and Christ. Learn how Peter uses Old Testament prophecy from Joel and Psalms to make sense of the Holy Spirit's outpouring, and why his sermon cut listeners to the heart with the simple command: "Repent and be baptized."
Whether you're new to faith, church shopping, or a longtime believer who's drifted, this message will remind you that God still uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things, that the gospel is for you, your children, and all who are far off, and that this Jesus is calling you by name today.

What is the gift of tongues, and what is it not?
In this message from Acts 2:1-21, we look at the day of Pentecost and the first occurrence of the gift of tongues after the Holy Spirit was poured out on the church. There is a lot of confusion, controversy, and even division surrounding this gift, but instead of building our theology from experience, tradition, or emotion, we look to Scripture.
Using Acts 2 as the foundation and 1 Corinthians 12-14 as support, this sermon explains that tongues is a real gift of the Holy Spirit, but it is not the only gift, not the evidence of salvation, and not meant to draw attention to ourselves. The purpose of every spiritual gift is to glorify Jesus, build up the church, and point people to the Gospel.

We’re kicking off our new series “Unstoppable – Fueled by the Holy Spirit” with a message from Acts 1 titled “All That Jesus Began.”
In the Gospel of Luke, Luke records all that Jesus began to do and teach—but in the Acts of the Apostles, we see that His work didn’t stop. It continues through the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through His people.
In this message, we unpack:
Jesus said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8)
The early church didn’t start the movement—Jesus did.
They simply continued it, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
This is not just their story—it’s ours.
God is still working.
The mission is still the same.
And the same Holy Spirit is available to you today.
What happens after you believe in Jesus? That is the question this sermon answers.
In this message, Pastor Nick walks through the gospel clearly and practically: you were made for a relationship with God, sin broke that relationship, and Jesus came to restore what was lost through His death and resurrection. But salvation is not the end of the story. It is the beginning of a brand-new life.
This sermon explores what comes next for the believer: repentance, baptism, and learning to walk daily with Jesus. If you have ever asked, “I believe… now what?” this message is for you.
In this sermon, we talk about:
This message also serves as an on-ramp into our upcoming verse-by-verse study through the book of Acts.
