Jesus experienced a separation from God on the cross.

For the next several weeks, I would like to lead us to think carefully about what it means to follow Christ in a world which does not. Even a casual observation of our modern culture would lead one to conclude that the world in which we live is becoming increasingly more chaotic, confused, dangerous, and deceptive.

Today we give consideration to the radical nature of the new birth. It is comprehensive. It's a complete over haul.

This morning we kick-off a brand new series of messages entitled, "The New Birth." We must understand what it is that makes us a Christian.

Jesus came to give us peace with God. The verses we are about to read, on this Lord’s Day after Christmas, are some of the most blessed verses in all of the Holy Scriptures! May your heart be blessed with this message from God’s Word!

Jesus is God. He is God incarnate. Christmas is about celebrating the birth of the Savior, God becoming man in the person of Jesus Christ--what a great doctrinal truth!

A key hallmark of the Christian life is a desire to display Jesus by what you say and how you live.

Can you imagine a scenario which would drive you away from the Lord Jesus? What would compel you to walk away from Christ? In the text before us, please note that some of Jesus’ disciples walked away from Him. Why?

Do you love Jesus? How can you be sure? The sermon text this morning informs us exactly how we can KNOW that we love the Lord.

“Be Imitators of God” is the heading for Ephesians 5 in my Bible. The first verse carries that title: “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.”

What an assignment-to imitate God! Not only difficult, but impossible in our own efforts. In verses 15-21, Paul gives us the answer to how this can be accomplished in the life of a believer.
