Are you confronted, burdened, sobered, and ashamed by the terrible reality that you have sinned against God. Paul has articulately made clear in the opening chapters of Romans that both Jews and Gentiles are sinners-depraved, corrupt, wicked, rebellious, believers of lies, worshipers of idols, deniers of the truth, and the objects of God’s frightful wrath. Before we get to the gospel, Paul desires that we look deeply into the mirror of the law.

A church needs its members to take an active role in the life of the church this year as well as every other year.

Luke 1:26-38

Why does God appear to choose ordinary people to accomplish God-sized, extraordinary assignments? What was it about Mary that God saw in her so entrust to her the awesome responsibility of being the earthly mother to His Son, Jesus Christ.

In two weeks, we will celebrate Christmas, the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ. The message this morning seeks to examine the character of Joseph in the birth narrative of Jesus. Why did God choose Joseph to be the earthly father of Jesus? What makes Joseph a man God affirms?

Philippians 4:10-20

Pretty creative sermon title, huh?! Today’s sermon is intended to call the church to generous giving as we look to our multiple ministry opportunities in the new year. Our church has a great opportunity to impact this city and region in 2011. It will take resources. It will take each of us giving generously.

Thursday we observe Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving! Today’s text leads us to consider an expression of gratitude to God penned by Paul to young Timothy. This expression could very well be each of ours as well.

The words we consider from Scripture today are sobering words, unexpected words, largely ignored and forgotten words. Yet, before we can appreciate more fully the good news of the Gospel of God, we must be terrified, startled, and gripped by the alarmingly bad news.

Romans 1:8-17

The church has an obligation to guard the sacred trust given to us…the Gospel of God, the truth of Holy Scriptures. R.C. Sproul has written: “The preservation of the gospel in our day is delicate…the church in every age must be careful to guard the precious good news that comes to us from God.”
