Fight Disciples Podcast

With Nick on holiday, Adam took the reigns for this weeks radio show and he brought Paul Smith to the party.

After recently announcing his retirement from the sport, we look back at the highs and lows from the amateurs to the pros and we discuss what is on the horizon for the Real Gone Kid.

With Nick on holiday, Adam took the reigns for this weeks radio show and he brought two scousers to the show who are in world title contention in the upcoming months.

First, you'll hear from Liam Smith who hopes to regain his WBO Super Welterweight crown in Las Vegas on July 21st.  Then its the turn of his brother, Callum, who is still awaiting a date for his showdown with George Groves in the world boxing super series final.  Joe Gallagher also joins the show to discuss the launch of his new academy for 16-18 year olds.

As an added bonus, which is only available in the podcast, Paul Butler talks about missing weight and his fight with Emanuel Rodriguez whilst Hosea Burton and Sam Hyde discuss their plans for a serious step up in competition.

After a dominant display in Singapore Leon 'Rocky Edwards called out Jorge Masvidal but did he do it with ultra conviction? With Nick away, Adam invites MMA journalist Jim Edwards into the FD studio to discuss.

Also on the agenda, Conor vs Khabib and the distant possibility it's happening this year and with Bisping gone, who is the face of UK MMA?

Good news, nobody is sick in the bin this week!

With Nick on holiday, Adam took a trip to Gallagher's gym in Bolton in search of a stand in co presenter.  He ended up finding 3 that all wanted to talk.  Joe Gallagher, Anthony Crolla and Natasha Jonas all give their view on the weekends fights including a coming of age night for Josh Taylor and as with anything Fight Disciples, the conversation starts with Boxing, goes via Football and ends up on Love Island!

The Fight Disciples are joined in studio by lightweight prospect Luke Willis who talks about life at the opposite end of the pro boxing spectrum, fighting on small hall shows and begging for every opportunity.

Yet that's not stopped him from dreaming big and along with calling out red-hot British champion Lewis Ritson, the 7-0 Scouser has aspirations to become champion of the world. The lads also discuss the career of Paul Smith Jnr, who officially retired this week, and they look ahead to this weekend's WBC Silver title fight featuring St Helens' Martin Murray.

We roll into Singapore this weekend and a major opportunity for Rocky Edwards to get himself alongside the welterweight elite.

There's also a little surprise that Nick thought he'd bring up. Literally!

The more we see of him the more excited we get.  Lewis Ritson took no time at all in defending his lonsdale belt out right, coupled with a tremendous performance by Josh Kelly, the metro arena in Newcastle was the place to be on Saturday.

David Haye's retirement and Canelo GGG 2 are also on the agenda

Heavyweight Alex Dickinson, MMA star turned boxer Jack McGann and the scintillating Super Sam Maxwell all jump on the phone to review their performances. While we also celebrate the news of Ricky Fielding's WBA world title fight opportunity in Germany next month. We are Fight Disciples!
