Veterans Day is set aside each November 11th to honor and thank all who have served honorably in the U.S. military — in war or in peace. This week, Gary Dolphin offers a standing ovation to the men and women who’ve answered the call to defend our nation. One of them is Green Beret Master Sergeant Mike McEmeel of Cedar Rapids, now President of the Galen Kittleson Iowa Chapter of the Special Forces Association.

McEmeel reflects on his service, the legacy of fellow Iowan and Special Forces legend Galen Kittleson, and the enduring brotherhood among America’s elite soldiers.
