How do you forgive someone who has deeply hurt you, especially when they haven't apologized, or their behavior hasn't changed? In this episode, Lori talks with Toni Hebel of Forgiving Forward Ministries about the difficult work of forgiveness, the power of shame, and how God's grace enables us to love a spouse who has caused deep emotional wounds. Toni reminds us that forgiveness does not give someone permission to continue in sin. Instead, forgiveness allows us to release that person into God's hands and trust Him with the outcome. You'll also hear how shame can affect both the wounded spouse and the spouse who has caused the hurt. Toni shares an important truth: "Shame gives shame." When someone continually belittles, condemns, or puts others down, they may be speaking from the shame they carry. If you are struggling with resentment, waiting for an apology that may never come, or praying for a spouse who is carrying the weight of their own choices, this conversation will encourage you. Forgiveness doesn't erase what happened. It doesn't call sin acceptable. But through God's grace, forgiveness can loosen the grip that another person's actions have on your heart. In this episode, Lori talks with bestselling author and radio host Brant Hansen about his book, Living Unoffended: The Joy of Simple Peace in an Angry, Anxious World, and the freedom that comes when we stop allowing another person's words, choices, or actions to control our peace. For anyone standing and praying for marriage restoration, this conversation is especially powerful. Jesus tells us to bless those who persecute us, love our enemies, forgive, and extend grace, even when we have been deeply hurt. Those commands can feel incredibly difficult when the person causing the pain is the spouse you love. Brant shares why living unoffended does not mean pretending the hurt isn't real or excusing sinful behavior. Instead, it means releasing anger, refusing to live trapped in resentment, and trusting God with what we cannot control. You'll hear practical encouragement and tips straight from Scripture about how you can stop carrying anger and bitterness. If you are tired of carrying anger, replaying offenses, or allowing your spouse's choices to steal your joy, this conversation will challenge and encourage you to follow the radically different way of Jesus.
