San Tan Valley resident Misty Terrigino lost her 17-year-old daughter Kaylie to an accidental fentanyl overdose earlier this year. She’s now trying to put the pieces together in order to help others avoid the devastating experience of losing a loved one.
"It was just a normal night," she said. "I went upstairs and knocked on her door and there was no response and I just knew, I knew something was terribly wrong." Misty was right, as she entered the room she knew immediately that something was horribly wrong. After checking her vital signs, she called 911 and laid next to her until the police and EMS arrived.
Misty indicated that the night before the death, The two of them were happy, Kaylie was smiling and carrying on in conversation. Misty said, that her daughter did not go to parties and she was an honor roll student. There we no signs of depression or fear of overdose.
"Terrigino said that while her daughter's case is still under investigation, they know the pill that killed her was bought over the social media app Snapchat and delivered straight to their door. They’re still trying to catch the account user. She said the pill was believed to be Percocet but was instead laced with a lethal dose of fentanyl.
"It only takes one time, it only takes one pill," she said. "It's very cheap, it's accessible, people will deliver it to them. It's the perfect recipe for disaster, and that's exactly what happens". (foxnews.com)
