I am honored to share this podcast with the world. Anytime we put ourselves out there, we risk failure, disappointment and judgements. I am excited to share with you the conversation I had with Kellan Fluckiger. 

Kellan is an amazing man who survived massive childhood trauma. Behind closed doors, he was suffering. His parents beat him up every single day. He was unaware of the reason behind the violence. Kellan grew up believing he was useless. To cope with the cruelty, he turned to drugs at the age of 13. This continued through the greater part of his life. Among those are his three divorces and multiple suicide attempts.

Today, Kellan and I talk about his experience as an addict while struggling with depression. Kellan sheds light on the different faces of depression and addiction and how he lives today as a grateful recovering addict.

As recovery is traversed, one will learn to enjoy this statement. Just doing the next right thing, actually simplifies our recovery efforts. It makes the process easier and more manageable. 

Every decision we make in life matters, big or small, it set's us up to win or lose! Each right decision helps form the foundation upon which we stand! Each choice determines who we are. 

What decisions are you making today that influence your life?  Are they a benefit or a detriment?

I want to look act and feel like a million bucks, but I have a minimum wage work ethic!

In order to accomplish great things, your alter ego has to go. There is no way we can be consistently consistent with the negative voice fighting the process. We have to learn to set the alarm and do. Not set the alarm, push snooze and then go back to bed. 

Each time the voice wins, we loose power. We give our power away until it becomes too difficult to overcome it. Prime example is January 1st of any year. The gyms are packed and energy is high. The desire to look better, feel better, be stronger, slimmer and sexier is at an all time high. Until day 3 and 4 and f5 arrive. The body starts to hurt and the energy and excitement dies. This is the perfect storm. five days into January, the gyms are empty. The voice wins again and we fail to achieve our goals.

Ginny Burton,  is the face of what's possible.

Ginny is a 49 year old renewed human being that accomplishing the unthinkable. Once considered the least likely to live beyond her 30s. A strung out, 90 lb. walking crime wave recreated herself after being arrested for the last time in 2012

Ginny's addiction started at the age of 7 years old. By 14, she was smoking crack and by 15, she realized she was a crack addict. Her mom introduced her to drugs and to trauma. Her childhood trauma fueled her drug use and she was willing to die to chase the high. 

Ginny went from 17 felony convictions, 3 prison terms,  and decades of drug use to a UW graduate,  Martin Honors Scholar  Truman Scholar, National Spokesperson,  and founding director of Solutions institute in San Diego County.  She's driven to help men and women find lasting sobriety by fixing the system. 

Ginny is open, honest and very vulnerable as she shares her path to recovery. She stands as a beacon of hope for those in active addiction and struggling to find purpose. I invite you to Chase The Vase with Ginny and I as we share HOPE in recovery with you.

Brad Waudby is a 13 year veteran Detective in Northern New Jersey, just outside New York City. Throughout his career he has investigated Organized Crime, Narcotics, been in the Special Victims Unit and is currently assigned to the Major Crimes Unit.

Brad shares his struggle with mindset and how he is breaking through the barriers of stigma. Brad Waudby dives deep into his experiences as a law enforcement officer and how the job almost cost him his life. He talks about his struggles with alcoholism and recovery and how he gained the tools to cope with stress, trauma, and grief. Brad talks about some of the turning points in his life, overcoming the lows, and discovering his systems of support. Brad Waudby is a warrior and a survivor!

He used to have it all as an actor, spending years rubbing elbows with the rich and famous. "I worked on the movie Superbad, and big projects like NCIS, ER, JAG and Cold Case," John Mabry was at the top of the world. He had made it. He had arrived! Until his life went into a tailspin right after high school. 

John was in a major car accident that cost him much more than his acting status. The car accident was a whirlwind. It literally flipped his world upside down. "We rolled 10 times, tire blew out in the friend's car, the driver died." When he woke up in the hospital, he realized that the accident was not a dream. The Life Flight helicopter was real, the accident was real, and the fact that he lost his leg to amputation was real.  

As a result of the accident, John began to struggle with depression began self medicating by "popping Adderall along with painkillers and washing them down with alcohol."

Then, more bad news arrived.

"I got a call that my brother didn't show up for work, so I went to his house in Beverly Hills, kicked in his locked bedroom door," Mabry said. "He had been dead for three days from an overdose."

That's when Mabry hit rock bottom.

Anthony is the creator and host of “The Off Duty Podcast”. His travel to become a police officer and an entrepreneur led him to this point.
