This week we meet possibly the most conceited protagonist we've had yet! Ol' Slippery Jim DeGriz, in Harry Harrison's The Stainless Steel Rat.
There are lots of explosions, misogyny, chicanery, and SO MUCH PAPER in the future!
Thanks for listening!
Cause Jess sure as hell doesn't know!
This week we read Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!
We meet Gandalf Ted Danson, discuss the movie and stage adaptations, and did Adams predict Kindles, Google, and the Trump presidency???
Hope you read the title to the tune of How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria!
Gizmodo article w/ Neil Gaiman chapters about the stage productions and movie: https://io9.gizmodo.com/the-stage-play-that-almost-made-douglas-adams-panic-5377393

We've got a tasty episode this week with Thomas Rockwell's How to Eat Fried Worms!
We celebrate Skyfox Day, and Steven gives us a dramatic reading of the most action-packed scene of the book, and tells us about an action-packed moment of his own life.
And what does everyone eat 1.6 ounces of a year? Find out this week on Fighting Over the Card Catalog!
Thanks for listening!
Happy Halloween everybody! Time to get spoopy over on Fear Street & attend a Halloween Party! There are scares, danger, revenge, murder, & teen motorcycle douchebags on a violent hunt for wine coolers!
Plus Steven gives a great tip if you're ever kidnapped, plus discussion on passive aggressiveness & ableism, because we really know how to party.
It's a hauntingly snarky good time!
Thanks for listening!
The episode Jess has been dreading the most! CW for dog death.
This is an EMOTIONAL one, y'all! This one mainly deals with the decline of Kristy's collie, Louie, and we frankly can not handle that.
But at least Stacey really weirds some bratty kids out, and then there are other baby-sitting chapters that are entirely unnecessary.
BUT MAINLY ANIMAL SADZ. We were too emotional to remember to do our current reads (apologies) and if you're into ASMR sniffles, we have got. you. covered.
Plus, celebrity sibling deaths! And was Ann a childhood grifter???
MAJOR CONTENT WARNING: Please skip from 46:18 to 47:48 if you're sensitive to horrible dog deaths. As you should be.
Thanks for listening!
This week we delve into the delightful Bunnicula by Deborah and James Howe. We get animal heavy on this episode, with a super punny murder plot, our party ruining dog, and all sorts of cat shenanigans with feline fashion, therapy, and inebriation.

Another ghost story with Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn. Steven was SO excited. We talk about graveyards and adventures in the woods. And is Steven learning magic?

We begin this week by going slightly off the rails into baby showers and Chik-Fil_A. But we get back on track for Christina's Ghost by Betty Ren Wright, our most controversial book yet! At least between the two of us.
In the book we deal with grumpy uncles, big old houses, missing stamps, and scary ghosts.
As it turns out, Steven gets pretty mad about ghosts! So we get deep into paranormal discourse. Could ghosts be real? Why do people think so? And why does Steven get irritated by them being in children's books?

Ok, we actually do end up back with the Baby-Sitters Club, with #10 Logan Likes Mary Anne!
Where we're introduced to so many classic BSC elements. The 1st cycle of the time warp! The famous cities skirt! Kristy's uniform! Logan! Jackie Rodowsky! It's an IMPORTANT one, y'all.
And Steven's latest book haul, Inside Out spoilers(?) and maybe some poop talk(?)

This week we delve into the strangely numbered Palm Beach Prep series with number 1, or 4 idk, Lonely Heart. But we discuss why when we get into its weird publishing history.
Plus swearing parrots, 12 year old models in icky situations and outfits, why we lie and why we laugh, and Jess possibly goes on a murderous rampage because children disrespect theatre. Normal week, really.
